I believe that would be the Boeing 777. Somewhere around 19-20 feet.
If not, then it would be the mighty 747. It is very close in width to the 777. Within inches, I believe.

Of passenger airliners in service the winner is the 747, but that will change when the A380 enteres service. The widest cargo commercial aircraft would be the An-124/225 behemoths.

The 747 is still the King of the Widebodies...20 feet even from interior cabin wall to wall. However, when the A380 comes along, that aircraft will have an even wider cabin. Regards.

I don't know the exact figures, but I can see if I can find them in my literature. However, given that the An-225 is directly based off of the An124 and that machine was built to be the Russion C-5, and the C-5 is at least as wide as a 747, then I would say it is a good bet the An-124/225 is the widest cargo airliner in civillian use.

The A300 family I dont believe is wider than the DC10/MD11/L10....Look...The most you ever see an A300 family is 2-4-2 in coach. The three holers are all usually 2-5-2 and some times 3-4-3.....so the three holers are wider....

I knew the dimensions of the Antonovs at one time, but I'll have to look them up and repost them. The C-5, however, I've had memorized since H.S. Another words, before the drinking made such chores more unattainable...
Length is 247', wingspan 222', height 65'.
Cargo hold length is 121', width is 19' wide and 13' tall.
I'll get back with the An figures.

707, 720, 727, 737, and 757 all have the same cabin width. The A320 family has the widest cabin of the narrow bodies, and Airbus continually toutes this as a superior feature to the 737, nevermind that the difference is not noticable to passengers.

Actually the Avro RJs/Bae 146 is 2-3 or 3-2. Not as wide as the MD's but wider than the CRJ.

The configuration of the Avros, as with any airliner, is mostly dependent on the airline. However, from what I have read, the RJ70(146-100) was originally 3-3, but the RJ85(146-200) and RJ100(146-300) are usually configured 2-3. Since most(?) Avros are 2-3, I put them with the 1-11 and DC-9s.
BTW, looks like I was wrong about the C-5 being wider than the 747, oops.

Here are the specs on the Avro/BAE 146 vs the others
Internal cabin widths:
Boeing Narrow bodies (737,727,757)= 11.7 feet
Avro/146= 11.1 feet
MD-80/DC-9= 10.1 feet
The Avro is 1 foot wider internally than the MD-80 and only 6 inch less than the boeing narrowbodies therefore 3-3 is permittable on it. unlike the MD-80.

I used to hear conflicting rumors about the boeing singles...visably, the 757 stands out from the rest of the singles, and it must be "deeper" cause it's cargo hold has a higher vertical height...in addition to this , I've heard the 757 is 3" wider than the 727s, 737s, 707s???? someone please clarify!

If we are only talking about passenger aircraft, everyone who says "correct" to the above specs is actually wrong.
The Il-96-300 and Il-86 both have interior cabin widths of 5.7m = 18.70 feet. They both have an actual fuselage width of 6.08m.
So both aircraft are at least 17cm (half a foot) wider than the L-1011.
If this book "Giant Jetliners" doesn't include both the Il-86 and Il-96-300, I suggest you throw it in the bin, coz it isn't worth the paper it is printed on.

Hey Russo when we use the .4 after the foot number we mean inches
for instance L1011= 18.11 it is 11 inches, 1 inch shy of 19 feet.
Your right ILL-86/96 are 5.66m across internally which is 18 feet 7 inches.
Lets do it in meters "Internally":
747= 6.13m or 20ft 1 inch
777= 5.81m or 19ft 3 inches
L1011= 5.77m or 18ft 11 inches
DC-10/MD-11= 5.72m or 18ft 9 inches
ILL 86/96= 5.66m or 18ft 7 inches
A300/10,30,40= 5.28m or 17ft 4 inches
767= 4.72m or 15ft 6 inches

If inches are the norm in a country, let them use the things. Write what you are comfortable with. I often try to write the alternate unit in parentheses. And there's always http://www.onlineconversion.com/length.htm.
