Check Out This Landing!

Mon Jul 26, 2004 11:23 pm

I came across this video of a very poor landing. It mentions nothing about the location of the airport or the date, but it has to be seen to be believed.

Let's hear some comments.

Thanks, man. Its presented in the context of humour but clearly was a dangerous manouvre. If it wasn't so real I would find it funny though.

The link works, but it links to the homepage, not the video.

Can somebody link the video?

Ok, if it takes you to the homepage find "Video Clips" then scroll down and find "Female Pilot" and click on it. Hope that helps you out.

That's abvout at least the Nth time we've seen this in recent months!

It is cut from a longer version which is an advertisment for Heineken Beer!

If you new guys are interested, I'll see if I can find the complete version!

Cheers!

I guess the pilot must have had too much Heineken.  Big grin

Here's the original:-

It was seen first, about a couple of years ago, when the Austrian Football Team were visiting Holland to play the Dutch Football Team!

I have the full version of that video from the Heineken advert. If anyone would like a copy drop me an email and I shall send it to you.

I too have been working out wether or not it is actually real. It sure as hell looks tough!

Haven't seen that in a while, thanks for sharing! I agree, it is absolutely fantastically done, if we weren't A.net nutters I'm sure we would all be convinced!

Even as a commercial, it's pretty well done! It's gotta be a model, but it looks pretty real. The tipoff to me is the cut right at the beginning from the real plane coming in to the much closer shot of the plane landing. Add in some forced perspective and it looks like it's actually landing on a runway at Schiphol when it's probably way off in a field next to the airport.

Gotta be a big model and it looks really detailed even down to the spoilers (unless they added those by computer later).

I'm sorry to sound like an ass, but anyone with a true interest in aviation should never ever, even wonder if that was real or not. It makes me very sad to hear that.

Well excuse the hell out of me then. All this negativity and complaining I started the topic and i wished i hadn't now. Sorry to reach out and annoy everyone. Maybe I should have just said Boeing is better than Airbus, huh? Or just put "DC-9", those two things always seems to get everybody's motor running.

Sincerely
Mike

Well, I was amused by this...

Pardon me if I don't sit on this site all day and never saw it before (and I thought I *did* sit here an awful lot of the time - can't imagine how much of their lives some people waste here).

Be careful - I checked out a couple of other videos from that site and my Virus scan stopped two viruses from infecting my system.

That looked authentic all the way to when the A/C actually takes ground... but, who am I to say... if somebody showed me the 9/11 movies five or ten years ago and said that they were real, I would say that they were full of horsesh!t

Speaking of interesting landings, has anyone seen the 747-400 landing at Kai Tak in strong crosswind.... wow, these guys really deserves their salary...

NWADC9,

What is the pilot saying? I can hardly understand him!

Here's what he's saying:

"This is Kees Blokker, your captain, speaking. On behalf of the Dutch crew I'd like to apologise to the Austrian football team for this small inconvenience. We wish you a lot of success against the Dutch football team. Thank you."

The banner at the end, for those who don't understand Dutch, reads "All of Holland helps".
