I'm not sure I like the windows, but the rest of the livery is goregous. Can't wait to see it in service...

That color scheme is kind of gaudy. But, I give them (or whichever firm that designed it) props for at least being unique with the styling. The blue is too light. But, the catch 22 is if they darkened it, the scheme would look quite familiar (did somebody say jetBlue?). Oddly enough, I kind of like it at the same time, too. At least it's something different.

P.S. Does anybody know when the 'Bus goes into service? And how many were ordered/ optioned?

First revenue service should be the beginning of November. There are now 28 firm orders and 49 options.

and N766UA, looking at the magic crystal ball of no relevence, I guessing around 70%. Just a guess though, let us know how everything went.

Wilco, Nearord. Question: If I want a paper ticket to keep as a souvenir, is it best to check in the old-school way or at the kiosk (if there's one there)? Obviously online checkin won't get me a paper ticket.

If one wishes a souvinier, I would check in at the ticket counter in CLE. Im don't even know if the kiosks will be up and running, some outstations don't have them yet from what I understand. They are slowly coming online as IBM delivers them. So yes, I wouldn't do the online check in the first time, but for future reference, it is really nice to have that option.

Out of curiosity, where were those pics taken?

And to continue with the non-relevant talk...I flew IAir last month (EWR-JAX) and the loads to JAX (Friday afternoon/night) were great...Hardly any empty seats! However, on the way back to EWR (Sunday afternoon/night) the loads were terrible. There were about 15 people on each flight! One person a row!

I really hope the loads are starting to pick up (this was the first weekend of JAX service). I loved the flights (yes, Im 6'4" and I don't mind the CRJs!). Fun service and they were able to bump me onto an earlier flight so I didn't have to wait 2 hours in IAD for the next one!

It just seems to be too similar to a jetblue paint scheme.

I don't like the circles around the windows--it's strange looking--like a woman with too much makeup on.

Otherwise..it's unique to the US...so it will be popular with the spotter's, I assume.

I have to agree about the paint job it looks to me to be a very labor intensive job. I thought as a LCC they would have gone more simple and easy to apply, and one that is less costly.

Much like FL's new livery, and NW's new livery, the Independence Air livery looks much better in person than looking at a picture of it. I've managed to see it a few times @ ATL, and it does look pretty decent on a CRJ, and based on the pictures of the A319, it looks even better when done on a bigger a/c, as it looks less cluttered.

I love the windows! A nice and creative change in lieu of the usual boring cheatline on a white background. (And in many cases the cheatline doesn't even go the entire length of the aircraft.) I really like it. Conragts Independance Air!

Not to be picky or anything but I believe N766UA is wanting to keep a boarding pass and not a paper ticket. I know I know, Im being anal but its just something that bugs the hell out of me when people mix up boarding passes and tickets. Paper tickets are very very rare these days, and correct me if Im wrong but many new start ups and LCCs don't even have them, or accept them, its all e-tickets now.

Actually I like the idea of painting around the windows....its reminiscent of a cheat line. What could be more boring??? A cheatline on a White fuselage or an All White fuselage???

I just wish they would have used a colour other than blue....there is too much blue and red used on airlines.....What ever happend to the use of green???
Substitute the light blue with a spring green and the darker blue witha darker green and there you go....

It still looks too Euro for me anyway....

FlyXJT: If it's made of paper, and it gets me on the plane, it's a paper ticket. Tickets and boarding passes are the same just like stewardesses and flight attendants are the same. I don't know what you consider to be a ticket and what to be a boarding pass but it seems to me they're exactly the same thing.

N766UA: Actually they are very very different. A paper ticket is what holds all the value in your reservation, its much like a check. A boarding pass holds no value at all, and its used just for basically a seat assignment, to get you through security, and to aid in reconciling the flight. A paper ticket can be taken to another airline, and they can use that as your payment, which is a little known fact to many travelers (all of this is established in the IATA rules). Now and days since everything is an e-ticket people never see what 'holds' the value because its in a mainframe at the company's headquarters. Like I said, I wasn't trying to be a prick, but rather to clarify the difference. An airline would never let you go home with a paper ticket, because that is what they eventually get their money from, but I'm sure if you ask they'll be happy to let you keep your boarding pass. If there's anything I'm not being clear on, do not hesitate to ask.

Let me clarify the difference in tickets:

If you have a PAPER ticket (not an e-ticket rez), your paper ticket gets stapled in the back of the boarding pass. The ticket is retained by gate agent at the gate, but the gate agent may A) retain the ticket only and give you the entire boarding pass or B) Keep both, ticket and boarding pass together and detach the stub and give to you for seat location.

If you have an E-ticket reservation, your boarding pass is the ticket. Notice on the bottom of the boarding pass, it will say "Electronic Ticket" and is highlighted with a yellow marker to show the gate agent to retain parts of the boarding pass for the audit. The agent keeps that part of the boarding pass and will detach the stub part for your seat location and will give back to you. The boarding pass on the E-ticket is valued and must be put with the other tickets for audit.

So as far as getting a boarding pass for a collectors item, just ask the ticket counter agent for a duplicate copy of your boarding pass. I know at AS we were able to make duplicate copies.

Hope that makes sense.

WOW! Thanks NearOrd.

I love this livery -- the only thing I was not looking forward to were the painted wings/horizontal stabilizer. Of course, I guess someone realized that would be impractical and that idea was DOA with the first iJET CRJ.

You guys have really snazzy branding - I flew IAD/ORD yesterday and will be flying ORD-IAD today, and once again I was impressed with the check-in and boarding areas, complete with lots of LCD/Plasma screens and hi-tech decor.

I quite like the livery, perhaps because it is a little different from any other carrier, particularly with the window design. Quite distinctive. It would have been so easy for them to have gone with a boring all-white fuselage like innumerable other carriers, but they have shown a bit of imagination.

My first thought was the shade of blue used reminds me a little of the old Sabena livery.

IMO its ugly, but I dont think that the A319 is going to help the airline make money, in fact, i think they will lose more money, I am not 100% sure why, but thats just my feeling, not to mention this is an airline that has only ever had experiences with CRJ's and nothing else.

"not to mention this is an airline that has only ever had experiences with CRJ's and nothing else."

So the fleet of Dornier 328jet's, Jetstream 41's, Jetstream 32's, dash 8's, and Brasillia's that we have operated in the past as ACA mean nothing? I know we have never had anything bigger, but to say we haven't any experience isn't quite right either.

Since it is an American carrier, I suspect the use of blue is due to the fact that the American flag is red, white and blue. Most airlines in the USA have at least two of those colors. AA, UA, DL, NW, CO and US all do and so did Pan Am, TWA, Western and Eastern. Perhaps one notable exception would be the now defunct Northeast Yellowbirds. While I mentioned the current AA livery, they used to have orange trim on metal in the old lightning bolt days as well as a blue eagle. Hughes Airwest also comes to mind and I am sure there are others. Some current LCC's have other colors perhaps for the reason you stated. How many ways can you make red, white and blue look unique? Even Braniff used to have red, white and blue before the flying colors were inaugurated. I am sure the greens you mention would look good, though. Let's hope someone tries them. In the meantime you can always see EI from the Emerald Isle and some liveries from Islamic countries.

Capital146 says it looks a bit like the old Sabena livery and I must agree. I rather like the livery, and will see if the window treatment grows on me. One thing's for certain, it's bubbly!
