Latest Figures Air France-KLM

Fri Aug 13, 2004 7:50 pm

Just picked up this news from the dutch broadcasting company NOS and translated it into english for you guys.  Big thumbs up

The original dutch text can be read on http://www.nos.nl/nieuws/artikelen/2004/8/13/airfranceklm.html

Increase in trade volume for Air France-KLM
The trade volume of the airline combination Air France-KLM has risen in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2004-2005 with 12.3 per cent. The earnings reached 4.46 billion euro, reported the company.
The trade volume figure consists of a turnover of 3.36 billion euro for Air France and 1.1 billion euro for KLM in the months May and June. It is the first presentation of joint figures since Air France and KLM merged on 03 May.
The growth of the business is due to factors as the economic recovery in Asia and the U.S. and the lack of negative influences like SARS and the war in Iraq. Because of this, the passenger load factor has increased with 2.7 per cent to 77.7 per cent.

Growth
The increase of the number of passengers was on all the routes on which the airline combination flies, but absolute winners were the routes to Asia and the Pacific Ocean. These destinations saw an enormous increase of 61.1 per cent. Also the Caribibean and the Indian Ocean did well with an increase of 20 per cent.

In cargo transportation, the load factor decreased with 0.7 per cent to 67.7 per cent. According to the airline, that is to be blamed on the increasing competition.

Air France-KLM will publish the complete quarter results on 02 September next.

On-line
Except the trade volume figures, KLM also announced that this week a new record has been broken. On one single day the company sold for more than 1 million Euro tickets on-linel. This means that about 10 per cent of all KLM-tickets are now being sold via the internet. It is the intention that this figure will be 40 per cent in the year 2007.

Btw: does anyone know what the figures of the other major global airlines are? How does the AF/KL combi rank now with these new released figures compared to US and other major Euro cariers?

Those planes need to be coming in just a little bit lower. The shorter beachgoers still can't quite touch the landing wheels.  Laugh out loud
