Green Bay Packers fly NW. Usually a widebody during the preseason when the roster is bigger (either 747 or D10, maybe we'll see an A330 this year?), then 757 during the regular season, then something bigger for the playoffs.

Remember, the airline that bills itself as the "official airline of..." is just a marketing tool and DOES NOT indicate that the airline actually provides charter ops to the team. (I doubt the Redskins will be piling into Indy Air CRJs at any point this season!)

Independence Air is likely the official airline of the Redskins in name only. Often, teams and leagues have corporate sponsorship deals with airlines that don't reflect how they actually travel.

The Philadelphia Eagles might have US as a promotional sponsor, but when they arrived in Foxboro this past weekend, they were on a Northwest 757.

Delta has been using a Delta 767-300 the past few years. The Titans had a 757.

If memory serves me correctly, Indianapolis uses an ATA 757-300...seem to remember that coming to Foxboro last year for the AFC Championship.

St. Louis has used an AA 757 in the past...don't know if they still do though.

New Orleans Saints-DL
As far as contracts go, last year I think DL had around 13 or 14 with NFL teams. Seems to remain pretty consistent every year. Usually a 767-300 or 757 is used, depending on who's travelling and length of journey.

World supplies an MD-11 for both Buffalo as well as Jacksonville. They are both ex DL a/c with dual configs. N803DL is 48/175 and flies for Buffalo and N804DL is 24/267 and flies for the Jaguars.

So are these regular A/C? Meaning are they re-configured or kept the same like for us "normal" people?

Most of our a/c are in an all EY config for charters. These 2 were left in their DL configs and are used on high end charters such as the NFL. We will continue to keep them in their dual config for the near future. They are both ER models which gives us another advantage. In fact 803DL is the "back-up a/c for our Sonair operation from IAH to SSG and LAD.

the Arizona Cardinals charter an America West 757-200. on Saturday August 14th my team did that turn @ B23. it was PVR-PHX HP #186 & PHX-MSP "ferry flight" outbound. our schedule allowed the use of A/C 908, the Arizona Cardinals theme plane on 8/14. America West always provides a 757-200 for the Arizona Cardinals away games. the Cardinals theme plane is not always used for their charters.

i have worked a few Phoenix Coyotes Charters also. we provide an A320. i wish it was a 757-200. they have lots of Hockey gear, crates & personal bags! last fall, the Coyotes were on a revenue flight from SNA-PHX.

hope this helps?

More on this subject...

Tampa Bay had used CO the past couple of years, but this season CO doesn't have any NFL contracts. TB was the only one left last year in fact.

The NY Giants, in years past, have used United Airlines, but I haven't seen their plans yet this year.

Detroit Lions use NW of course...I saw them arrive at DEN with a 742 last year but I would assume that that is not their normal a/c...probably a 752 normally??? From what I understand with the Eagles, who also use NW, they normally get a 752, but once per year they are allowed to "upgrade" to a 742 for longer trips, I recall the last time they played the 49ers in SFO a few years back they used a 742 for that...perhaps this is how the Lions' charter works with them too...

I have to say that when the opponents see or hear of the Bills or Jaguars coming into town in a nice, big MD11 with plenty of room for everyone and all the cargo they could think to bring, it has to make them jealous....

AlexinWA,

Hawaiian has one 767 AC in our fleet dedicated to the Raiders Charters. It is also utilized on regular scheduled service flights when not needed by the Raiders. It is configured with 18 seats in F class and 246 in Y. Here's a picture:

My dad use to handle (crew wise) The Dallas Cowboys carter. Back whey Jimmy Johnson was the coach i use to go to work with my dad a lot. At that time they where using the 727. Now i THINK they use the 757's. When they went to the super bowl back in 93 (feels so long ago but yet it doesnt) they used a DC-10.

Good memorys

Anyone know what the Chicago Bears are flying on this year?

The official airline of the Philadelphia Eagles is US Airways...

http://usair.com/about/press/nw_04_0520.htm

I would assume they will use US Airways aircraft if US is the official airline of the Eagles, unless they have some sort of contract with NW.

Usair330,

Many airlines are the official airline of XXX. In fact, Southwest Airlines has been the official airline of the NFL, but they don't fly a single team anywhere.

So, while the Eagles may have US as their official carrier, NW is the airline they contract with.

Following up for Jetblue15, NY Giants flew a UA 757 from ALB-CLT yesterday afternoon...

Continuing this thread:

Minnesota Vikings: NW 757 (to ATL Thurs.)
Tampa Bay Bucs: NW 753 (to JAX Thurs.)

By the way, down to only needing 5 teams on this thread (Teams they play Friday night)...

New Orleans Saints (GRB)/Washington Redskins (MIA)/Houston Texans (PIT)
St. Louis Rams (MCI)/Chicago Bears (Home)

I heard recently that the 49ers have switched from UA to DL for their charter needs. Haven't seen it actually occur yet.

As for Hawaiian, they used to use the DC-10s for charter. A couple of years ago, the Raiders were coming back from a Sunday or Monday night game in Indy and due to a runway closure at Oakland and some odd winds the pilots diverted to SFO. Aircraft parked at the old Terminal A where USAir currently operates. It all happened at about 2 in the morning so it was tough to get a ground crew and gate agents to handle the aircraft on such short notice.

Players had to wait on the plane until the busses and equipment truck arrived at SFO from Oakland.

SFO212,

I was the FO on a Hawaiian-Raider DC-10 charter that year and coming back from Philadelphia the team was a little late getting back to the plane. We really had to put the pedal to the metal to get back to OAK before midnight. They were working on the long runway (rwy 29), closing it every night at midnight. The next longest runway is 27L, and is only 6212' long. It doesn't have any instrument approaches. There is an ILS approach to 27R, but that is even shorter at 5433' long. Neither of those are suitable for a DC-10 at night at a (relatively) unfamiliar airport. Our standing instructions were to go to SFO if we couldn't use the long runway. We did make it back with about 10 minutes to spare. Fortunately it was late and the traffic was pretty quiet then so we could get there in pretty much a straight line.
