Looking in Airliner World magazine I notice easyJet is still taking delivery of new 737-700's from Boeing. How many more are to arrive?
Are these brand new aircraft expected to stay in the fleet as long as the A319's easyJet are receiving or are they just honouring their earlier order they placed with Boeing and in a couple of years these will be phased out.
Also I have heard there was an interview in Aircraft Illustrated magazine about easyJet and their new A319's, anything interesting come out of that? I have tried to purchase the magazine from several newsagents and can't obtain it.

As an employee, I can't actually give you a definitive answer; however, I understand that the idea is for the airline to become all-Airbus within the next few years. The implication therefore is that even the latest -700 ('KG) will eventually be phased out.
I'll try and find out for you. I believe 'KG might be the last -700 to have been delivered (about 2 months ago).

Orders for the Easyjet B737-700's were completed on 28th of May when the last one (G-EZKG) arrived. The orders in Airliner World are usually 2 or 3 months old, it will say "orders for may" or something like that.

According to the September issue of Airliner World, G-EZKG is the last 737NG for easyJet "G-EZKG B737-73V 32428 dd 27.05.04, last 737NG delivery" (info on page 88).

I think it will be a long time before they come All-airbus. With their current pace of route expansion, they are going to need a lot of aircraft. I can see the -300's being phased out over the next few years, but the B737-700's will be here until at least 2010, when all their Airbus orders and complete and they will start receiving/completing orders for more Airbusses, because looking at their current ops and then at their planned ops, i think they are going to need more than 120 aircraft.

Watch AirTran jump on their 737-700s. They seem to like the secondhand market, especially when the aircraft are new.
However, their 737-700s and the -800s they will eventually be getting are specially customized for AirTran with Easyfit overhead bins and twin lavs in the back instead of a galley.
However, AirTran DID refit the ex-hawaiian 717s to their specifications.
However, The Easyjet 737s do not have the yellow tape over the emergency lights and that would have to be re-wired and installed.
However, AirTran would not mind doing this in order to save a few bucks on a 737-700. And they could easily keep the current bins in there.

Since Easyjet has both 737-700's and new A319's, they should be able to compare them very well. I wonder which is more economical for them. I don't suppose we have an Easyjet insider here who could comment?
