I was at the PRG airport yesterday and was surprised to see that KLM and CSA Czech Airlines PRG-AMS flights already carry NW/CO flight numbers as well.

Interesting, but NW's website still does not show AF, OK, AM, or KE as partner airlines as of yet. Nor have they announced any code sharing agreements with any of the afforementioned carriers.

No official announcement or sinage will be displayed until September 15th. But I guarantee that on the 15th all the airlines will have all the logos up that same day.
Also many of the future SkyTeam members already code share on flights but that has nothing to do with the aliance yet.

Interesting, but SA)">NW's website still does not show AF, SA Czech Airlines">OK, AM, or KE as partner airlines as of yet. Nor have they announced any code sharing agreements with any of the afforementioned carriers.

Just a quick sample from PRG airport webpage:

AMS-PRG

10:25 KL1351 Amsterdam KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
10:25 OK4627 Amsterdam ČSA České aerolinie
10:25 NW8455 Amsterdam Northwest Airlines

11:45 OK0617 Amsterdam ČSA České Aerolinie
11:45 DL8731 Amsterdam Delta Airlines
11:45 KL3121 Amsterdam KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

PRG-AMS

11:15 KL1352 Amsterdam KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
11:15 CO9751 Amsterdam Continental Airlines
11:15 OK4626 Amsterdam ČSA České Aerolinie
11:15 NW8516 Amsterdam Northwest Airlines

Maybe it's just an error on the PRG webpage, but it's interesting that inbound KL1351 is not CO c/s and the outbound KL1352 is.

Also many of the future SkyTeam members already code share on flights but that has nothing to do with the aliance yet.

This is for sure not the case of CO flights AMS PRG. KLM did not c/s them before CO's SkyTeam membership.

Actually KLM has an extensive codeshare agreement with CO for some time now. Well before Skyteam.
The codeshares only apply to flights connecting to and from CO flights in AMS so that's probably why one flight is a code share and the other one isn't.

Yesterday, 9/11 the welcoming announcement on a NW flight from MSP to ATL: "...welcome on board flight....Northwest Airlines, a member of the Skyteam alliance."! Nowhere else was it posted or mentioned, though.

I expect major updates to all the airline's websites. I am guessing that skyteam.com will have a complete make-over. I have been waiting for NW to official join skyteam for so long. Glad it's finally happening!!

Well it's official....KLM, Northwest Airlines and Continental Airlines are members of SkyTeam. Passengers can enjoy the benefits starting on the 15th. NW has the logo on their website already and here in Aruba we make our announcements with the SkyTeam name and the logos are already in use.

What's going on at other stations?

CONTINENTAL EMPLOYEE BULLETIN NO. 9

CO JOINS SKYTEAM ALLIANCE

CO announced Monday that it has joined SkyTeam, the world's fastest-growing alliance, offering CO greater destination coverage, increased revenue and long-term cost-savings. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL) and Northwest Airlines (NW) also joined SkyTeam on Monday.

Beginning Sept. 15, customers will be able to accrue and redeem frequent flyer miles on any of the nine member airlines. With the addition of the three new members, SkyTeam serves 341 million passengers with 14,320 daily departures to 658 global destinations in more than 130 countries.

Other SkyTeam members include Aeromexico (AM), Air France (AF), Alitalia (AZ), CSA Czech Airlines (OK), Delta Air Lines (DL) and Korean Air (KE).

SkyTeam and the member airlines announced the new members at an event in New York City on Monday, where Gordon and Larry represented CO.

"Around the world, today's air travelers demand reliability, flexibility and high-quality service," Gordon said. "We know from our previous dealings with them that the SkyTeam members are world-beaters by all these measures, and we're proud to be part of a global alliance that shares our focus on the customer."

The SkyTeam Governing Board said the alliance's growth during the past four years is a testament to its commitment to meet the needs of customers.

"The entry of Continental, KLM and Northwest into the alliance marks the single largest airline integration in aviation history and is an important milestone for global airline customers," the board said.

Benefits for CO customers include:

· More travel options in Europe, Africa, Asia, North America and Latin America

· Frequent flyer mileage accrual and redemption

· Airport lounge reciprocity in 390 clubs worldwide

· Seamless travel experience including a single check-in for all legs of a trip

· Elite status recognition for Elite members

CO's front-line employees are receiving SkyTeam lapel pins to wear with their uniforms, and SkyTeam-branded signage for the airports will arrive soon. CO also will make changes to its onboard product, including SkyTeam references in the inflight magazine and video. EliteAccess, general boarding and inflight announcements that reference SkyTeam will be put into effect.

Does anyone know if arrangements such as this, with other alliances, have allowed pax's to "pool" FF miles from two member accounts (e.g. NW and KE)?

Thanks in advance.

Just received the following e-mail from Continental in my inbox:

Continental Airlines is now a proud member of SkyTeam, the global alliance that gives you access to more than 14,000 flights to over 650 destinations - with OnePass benefits on every flight.

The commitment among SkyTeam airlines is to bring you high-quality service that starts with more travel options and continues with seamless benefits and rewards. We're also happy to announce that our Elite members will enjoy a higher level of service that translates to special privileges around the world on all the SkyTeam partners.

Our goal was to build an alliance around your needs - one with more flexibility, choices and rewards. We hope you take advantage of our SkyTeam alliance and further expand your OnePass and travel options.

Does this mean that the VS and CO codeshare will end fairly soon?

What about Spain's Air Europa, which has links with KL and CO, will they be invited to join?

It has links with AM too but I don't think it will join since it doesn't really offer much to the alliance. It might be nice, though, but I don't see it happening.

What I hope, though, is that AM and UX expand their codeshare to more flights. Currently, AM only codeshares on UX' CUN-MAD and that's it.
Upcoming flights:
April/May: AM MEX-SCL 788 (J), AM EZE-MEX 789 (J).

Just as an update. No Air Europe, Avianca, Copa, or MEA. Not as full members, not as associate members, nothing for any of them right now.

Look for Aeroflot and China Southern as the next members.
