I flew DL 722 DFW-ATL yesterday. I was looking forward to the widebody domestic flight with some IFE. Unfortunately, I ended up disappointed. I sat in seat 38C which had the control pad (headset plug, light controls, stewardess call, and audio volume control) missing. There went my opportunity for the audio portion of the IFE. My fallback was my book, however, without being able to turn on the light, that didn't work too well.
I noticed a 4 foot section of trim paneling above the F,G overhead bins missing. Also, there was a piece of what looked like some napkins taped to the overhead panel above some seats on the A,B side. Pretty ugly.
Finally, when I disembarked, I noticed several seats in first class with separation between the cloth and the leather portions of the seats.
Has anyone else noticed these issues on other mid-aged DL planes?

The DL International 763 is pretty worn too. Flew them JFK-AMS and AMS-CVG this summer. We had problems with broken IFE as well. The interior architecture looked like something from the 70s. I was NOT impressed.
Firings, if well done, are good for employee morale.

I flew a Delta B763 ATL-FLL a few weeks ago in 16A, in the front coach cabin. The interiors weren't torn apart, and I had the full set of controls, but you could notice some age to them. They could use an update soon, which is hopefully what we'll get with their reorganization announcement.
As for the napkins, I would be willing to bet that could have been from codensation leaking from the air conditioning. On a CRJ-700 just before that B763 flight, the row in front of me kept getting dripped on and the FA said it was from the AC, so she put napkins up there to absorb the water.
