Tupolev Tu-204-120c

Fri Aug 20, 2004 9:41 pm

Can anyone tell me if Tupolev bought the Boeing 757 blueprint to build the Tupolev Tu-204-120c. This might be a silly question but the resemblance is quite remarkable

Nope, their own creation.

In many ways form follows function.

with computational fluid dynamics software, the optimum designs all look alike

think about bombardier's new proposal and its resemblance to the embraer 170-195 family

Tupolev Tu-204-120c is an amazing looking bird. The Russians do have a lot of similar designs as other airliners. Even their space shuttle did have the same design as ours Smile Put BURAN in the search page and there are seveal pictures of it.
BTW: I remember reading somewhere that Continental Airlines is going to be putting winglets on their 757s. If thats true, they will both look identical. I am waiting to see the pictures of it.

How cheaper is the T204 as compared to the B757?

Actually, I find the Tu-204 much more look alike the A321, rather than the B757 even if they are similar too :

Since the early years of Aviation industry, and especially after WWII and the beginning of the Jet era, all the manufacturers got "inspirations" from each others... and the "resemblance" between the aircraft produced was sometimes surprising...:
