This afternoon, Delta Airlines will conduct a short, low altitude flight over the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area as part of the airline’s 75th anniversary celebration.
The flight will leave from JFK Airport at 12:30 p.m and fly at an altitude of 4,000 feet. The flight path will bring the plane over the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and then up along the Hudson River to the George Washington Bridge. It will then fly over LaGuardia Airport on its way back to JFK.
While the aircraft will fly a route much lower than a typical airline flight, it will follow a safe, pre-approved flight plan and no one should not be alarmed

I am not sure, but I think that 2000 feet is the lowest altitude that is used when going up the Hudson and landing 13 at LGA, so 4000 is nothing

The view of the city from the passengers was much better than the view of the plane from the ground for us spotters. When they do a 500ft flyover, then we can talk.

I live right on the Hudson river across from midtown....but its so hazy today and overcast that you can't even see the acft on the Hudson approach into LGA.....can hear them but can't see them.....will still try and keep an eye out!

Fox News was playing the takeoff clip of the specially-painted DC3, then the anchor continued to narrate the clip and said the plane was a Boeing 757. I wanted to reach through the screen and slap him. How can you make that mistake as a writer?!? Call up Delta PR if you don't know what the aircraft is.

How can someone call a DC-3 a 757...surely that guy has flown before! You ask 100 people on the street is this is a 757 (and show a picture of a DC3) I'd say 95% would say no and 3% would say I don't know! The wrioter was in the other 2%

They already did back in June with the TravelAir 6000B and Ship 41 DC-3. 102DA is flying around to various hubs and doing special 30 min sightseeing flights for children's groups and charities.
