AA also used the DC-10-30 on JFK-ORY and JFK-FRA. I don't ever recall AA using the DC-10 on DFW-BRU as previously stated. I believe the route was operated by a 767-300 and was discontinued after a year or so due to low yields. AA did operate the 747SP into BRU from JFK during the 1991-92 period when the flight operated 4 days a week.

I would like to see AA bring back the DC-3 and 707. I'm too young to have flown on these planes.

NYCAAer, yes you're right. Thanks for correcting me. I meant ORD-BRU, not DFW-BRU, as one of the international routes on which American flew the DC-10-30. Sorry, it's my mistake. DFW-BRU only saw the 767-300 and it didn't last long, and the A330 a few years later when American was codesharing with Sabena.

When AA introduced its first service to ORY in 1985 from DFW, it was operated with a DC-10-30. The following year, AA started service to ORY from ORD with a 767-200ER. In 1987, AA began its service to ORY from JFK using a -10-30, and from RDU with a 762. AA changed its JFK service to a 762 later that same year. When the 763 was delivered to AA in 1988, all flights into ORY were 763s. In 1992, the MD-11 operated DFW-ORY and JFK-ORY from May to November, when both routes went back to the DC-10-30 again. From November 1992 to September 1993, the -10-30s flew into ORY, and then the 763s were put back on the JFK and DFW routes to ORY, when AA retired 6 DC-10-30s.
AA's Paris operations were moved to CDG in 1999 at the request of Aeroports de Paris.

When AA had a hub at RDU there were two East Coast routes that used the DC-10.
They flew from LGA and BOS to RDU and then continued to Florida

Sort of off topic: When and why did AA get rid of the MD-11s? I remember seeing them at ORD, and then they were gone (this was before I knew about a.net). Were they replaced by the 777, or was AA just unhappy with them?

MD-11's were gradually being sold off to Fed Ex as they were not needed with the growing 777 fleet. The MD-11 didn't live up to expectations.
In the aftermath of 9/11, AA quickly parked the remaining MD-11 fleet as a cost cutting measure. They were supposed to still fly for another few years but have now all ended up with FedEx

What's up with the idea RDU was a hub for AA a long time a go? They operater out of JFK and MIA heavily, why the need for another east coast hub?

In June, 1986 AA flew a DC-10 on at least one of the DFW-RIC routes. Don't know how long it lasted, but my flight was FULL. Surprised the heck outta me when I saw our bird at the gate.

Trust me... My flight from DFW to RIC was a DC-10-10. It's probable it was an aircraft substitution flight, but I don't know for sure. Like I said, that flight was FULL, and almost everyone's destination was Richmond. I seem to recall the plane was going on to ORF, then back to DFW. I have flown 727-200's on that route, too.
