The insulation mods DalMd-88 is talking about are the retrofitting of a new sheet of insulation in the cabin which would prevent a fire from spreading. I saw an
MD-88 the other day, believe it was ship N903DL and its retrofitting had been completed. All it looks like is a yellow color tarp throughout the cabin ceiling. I believe the whole fleet will be completed fairly soon. Anyways, this modification doesn't really mean much as it was forced upon by the FAA and if
DL wanted to sell it's
MD-90s, they would be in a much better selling situation by having the mods done than saying to the new buyer, here...so many
MD-90s and oh...they also have to have these modifications done to them per FAA, so anyways, I don't see the
MD-90s staying.
