Hi everybody,
Yes, lie-flat seats in B/C are in the picture. It was obvious that we were falling behind when
BA introduced the lie-flat seats in B/C ages ago. Since then, we've seen Virgin, Air France, Lufthansa, Continental, Northwest, JAL and others we compete with introduce a lie-flat seat. Financial constraints have prevented
AA from putting them in sooner.
I still don't have a timeline, but it has to be done if we're to keep any premium passengers. I believe the 767-300 will receive them first, because it is a 2-class aircraft, and most airlines with a 2-class configuration have a far superior seat, and also because the 777s still have First Class, so full fare B/C pax on the 777s can be upgraded to the Suites on that aircraft until lie-flat seats are installed.
With only 22 seats in Business Class on the 763, that will be the place to work in the cabin. No more MRTC will mean 196 or 197 in coach on that thing!
