I called in and got some solid numbers as far as how many are furloughed. I crunched some numbers and found out that i have an excellent chance at getting my job back. If thats the case, you can look forward to creativities such as the 'Buffet cart", the "Super cart", and back by popular demand, 'One stop shopping'... ive youve ever flown with me you know what these are.

You took the question right out of my post...

I was wondering if there was any speculation as to why so many flight attendants will be needed in 2005.

450 some odd flight attendant will come back to work on 12/15...plus 150 recalled flight attendants and then an additional 450 in January. So far, there have not been announced Company convenience Leaves. That means there is an additional 1000+ FA's for the 2005 staffing grids.

Is NWA planning something...I realize that there is additional flight planned for 2005 like all the added HNL flying and adding flight out of IND. But any other speculation?

It would always be just speculation until solid word goes out, but mainly increased domestic flying ..... BUT.... with the new NGO airport coming on line, I'd say there might be additional nonstop from West Coast or MSP to NGO. Also possible resumption of other JAPAN flying. There is always talk to of more Europe to complement the SkyTeam alliance.

According to Hector Adler, Minneapolis (and perhaps Memphis) will commence flying to Paris, and DTW-CDG will go from 1 to 2 daily flights. So flight attendants will be needed for those services. And then there are the new west coast - Hawaii flights. All good news!

As mentioned before, Detroit will be getting Athens, Madrid, Seoul, Sao Paolo..

Boston is being speculated to get Glasgow and Shannon .. for SEA, it is Paris and Osaka, and a Paris for MSP also..

I heard it last nite and I couldn't keep from smiling . I'm so happy for all of th e F/A who are planning to come back. I just wonder how many will come back.

I know of a flightattendant who said that he was moving to LAS at the end of the month. I hope he will reconsider it since he lived here in DTW.

The actual numbers are 150 to be brought back by DEC.15th and up to 400 by JAN31. for MSP and DTW. My only hope is that all the addresses are current and they can respond by NOV.15.

These call backs are in response to the senior mammas that I hope, plan on retiring. I was in inflight and the pictures are now filling up the wall.

MAD,ATH,ICN,,,,who is making this stuff up? Any of it is a possibility but don't report it as if were etched in stone. "as mentioned before..." ??????? who mentioned it before? This is, or should aspire to be, an honest forum with credible posts. This topic is about return to work for many people, not the fantasy flight forum.

I am very happy for all of our fellow F/A's to be recalled. For myself though, the possibility is very slim........I'm one of the very last five on the entire system seniority list...........I doubt I'll get a chance to be recalled. But I'm still hangin' in there and dreamin', nuthin' wrong with that I guess.

This is definitely some great news. Congratulations to the Northwest FAs and those recalled. It's also good to hear of international expansion for Northwest. I'm looking forward to hearing them announce some new routes. Looks like things are starting to pick up now.

BTW, pardon my ignorance, but who is Hector Adler?

As to the rumors of what new intl cities...

Possible routes......
DTW to...

MAD - approved and in plans before, but pulled the plug before it started
ICN- mentioned in summer of 01 to begin spring of 02, but 9-11 stopped it.
CDG - A second flight (maybe) CDG is to be the connection hub for all Southern Europe flying. We have 4 summer AMS, why not 2 summer CDG.
ATHENS - Don't see it happening, although had been talked about
Sao Paulo - I don't know. We already have CO and DL down there. Is there a need? Maybe. Nice connection to Asia for pax.

MSP
CDG - Probable
NGO- ??

SEA or PDX
KIX -Logical choice as we suspended this service in the past couple of years. Nice to see it come back
CDG - Why not, connection to Southern Europe

LAX

NGO. Why not continue this flight somewhere into Asia. LAX-NGO-HKG. Don't forget about our rights to fly one daily frequency into HKG from Japan (we got in summer of 01, but have not used

Now obviously these are either rumored cities or actually "almost" confirmed cities. ANYTHING can change, it is NW afterall. BUT WITH 600+ FA's coming back, there is something more than just a 2 percent increase in Domestic flying going to happen. NW should and will follow the lead of CO and UA in offering more Intl Service.

International expansion seems to make plenty of sense with other US carriers doing so. I can see some new service for NGO's new airport. LAX definitely could work since nobody has announced NGO-LAX yet (although you would think that JAL would reinstate the route). It's great to hear that SEA-KIX could be a possibilty. Could a reinstatement of MSP-KIX also be possible?

None of those routes are guarenteed to happen. Yeah there's been talk of it, but by all means, don't go and bet your house on it. While they sound good in theory, until they are actually announced, don't get too excited. Usually new international routes are announced at least 6 months in advance. So if anything new is going to happen this summer, we may hear something soon. Don't look for all of them, if they are going to happen, to all start in the same year. Over the course of the next 4 years, sure, but not all for summer 2005. Nevermind the fact there aren't enough long-haul aircraft, unless NW is dead-set getting the DC-10's going across the Atlantic for the long-term, which wasn't the original plan, as there will not be enough A330's to go around, even once all deliveries occur. Unless an additional aircraft order occurs.

Exactly....Obviously if NW decides to add any intl flying, it won't be all or any of those routes. Those are just the ones that have had the most life among rumors and other outlets. They also seem the most logical with the entrance into SkyTeam (MSP CDG or 2x DTW CDG)....I know NW has wanted to add ICN for some time, and hopefully they will. Certainly there will some intl expansion, to what extent, we will just have to wait and see.

I am thrilled by this news, because it means I will get off reserve. On a side note: (RUMOR) is that NWA will buy 9 of US Airways A330's for europe services out of PHL. Again, this is only I rumor I heard from a credible source. Not just a bunch of employee's wishfully thinking or speculating. Also that NWA told UAL to take a hike when UAL wanted full price for thier parked 747-400's.
My better judgement says that NWA has something up thier sleeve. They wouldn't just recall 600 FA's for no good reason.
