    Wow...these are lovely pictures. thanks!

This got me thinking...does the test plane that they fly around to gather data on fully furnished? I mean does it have overhead bins and all seats and stuff like that?

Gigneil's right. I wouldn't pretend having taken those pics myself, as they come from http://www.airbus.com/A380.
(I do work in the aeronautical field, but on the military side  Big grin )

This site answers Hawaijahaz's question. I quote:

Mini-cabins will be installed on Airbus’ three flight test A380. No passenger seats are being fitted, as they are not required for the aircraft to perform flight tests. Engineers expect to complete installation of the cabins in all three aircraft on schedule.

The mini cabin consists of interior furnishings – such as side walls and ceiling panels – galley, lavatory and overhead stowage bins and is installed in a small section of the aircraft’s upper fuselage, close to the cockpit area. For the second flying A380, a flight crew rest compartment will also be installed. The mini cabin set of components also includes stairs for the cockpit, forward and rear fuselage.

    Cheers

Comparing the 747 to the A380 is like comparing Marilyn Monroe to Anna Nicole Smith.

Is it just me, or do those pics of the upper deck seem a little claustrophobic. Maybe the workers are just very tall.

It's like this deck is a bit too small to be a twin-aisle and a bit too big to be a single aisle. Awkward.

Looks like your standard 767 or A3X0 interior. Although the walls seem to slope inwards more.

I always thought they should have made front windows in the upper deck, then you would have a splendid view. Airlines could sell those seats at triple rates or more I guess...

    Well that's a splendid idea!

On the 747 nose big cockpit style windows would be even better. Can some photoshop artist fix that one on a KLM744, I promise I'll forward it as a request to structures engineering  Laugh out loud

How much head room is on the upper deck? Does not look that high?

Think I may have to work for VS again so I can work on her!

Would it really make sense to build windows into the E&E compartment??
I think computers just wouldn´t appreciate the view and so Airbus decided not to build front windows in the A380 thus reducing weight and complexity.

Those passenger doors open in a strange way don't they? Most large Aircraft I flew have doors that open to the inside, with the door opening being more narrow towards the edge of the plane, made so the door wedges into the side of the aircraft, thus helping prevent opening due to pressure differences. These pictures show that the doors must open outward. Just wondering if the pictures were deceiving or Airbus has a new door design.

That's how all Airbus doors work, along with those on the 777. Boeing narrowbodies and the 747, along with the DC-8 and DC-9 families, have the kind of doors you're talking about, whilst the 767, DC-10 and L-1011 all have doors that slide inwards and upwards into the ceiling.

Ok, thank's for clearing that up.. I was on a U.S. Airways A320 and a Ted Airbus in September and didn't notice that... Being that I usually Fly Delta 757's or SWA out of BNA I guess I'm just used to seeing wedged doors! Thanks again.

    Jeffrito-

No, it's not just you. I was thinking the ceiling "looked" low for a twin-aisle cabin, when compared to the height of the people in the cabin, as well. Perhaps it's a trick of perspective or the blurring of the people in the picture.

The aircraft will be powered by 4 Trent 900s... massive and very powerful engines... It'll fly!

Looks really tight on both head and shoulder room on that upper deck. May be a trick of perspective but the outside shots confirm one hell of a sidewall curvature too.

The Titanic-like main stairway is going to be at the front of the aircraft, leading from the number one (lower-deck) doors up to the front of the upper deck. I don't think there's going to be a handrail running up the middle of the stairway, although it's going to be wide.

At the rear of the aircraft there'll be a kind of half-spiral staircase, possibly set directly against the rear pressure bulkhead (what I've inferred from pictures and a floor plan). Interestingly, apparently Airbus has designed both forward and rear stairs so as to take stretchers, although it looks like it'd be tight on the rear stairs.

The pictures of the upper deck really make it look like it's not going to be comfortable to be a passenger up there.

Also looks like they're planning to put kid sized seats along the windows there, who else would fit without having to follow that curve!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I hope reality brings a different picture.
