AF 772ER At MSY Today

Anywho: F-GSPG in MSY today.

An A330? Are you feeling ok? Tom already reported this one. We got a bunch of CO heavies and 3 UA E170s too.

I'm just not fond of those abominations to the aviation world otherwise known as A340s.



The ultimate tragic irony of that situation being that the A343 is the most suitable aircraft currently in AF's fleet for a chance on a market such as MSY...  Sad  Sad  Sad

Well, be cool to support the MSY-Europe market... ergo probably the best money you ever wasted, I wouldn't even ask AF for a refund once I reroute via ATL  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Not sure of the AF plane, but the CO 777 parked at gate C11. What a surprise I had when I was standing on the jetbridge at C1 waiting for our A319 to come in and there she was, towering over the FL 717 at C9. Man that's an impressive plane.

Apparently the CO bird took off on runway 19 (only 7000 ft.) fully loaded for its short hop to IAH....our ground crew said she just lumbered off the runway, they were taking bets as to if it would make it off the ground or not.

We are expecting more inclement weather here in Houston today through midnight or so--so you all over at MSY might get a couple of diversions. Get your cameras out.

Yes, many diversions from IAH yesterday. I was on CO2447 diverted to AEX. Pilot originally said that we would be diverted to Beaumont, but then said too many planes being diverted there, so we went to AEX. Sat at AEX for ~6 hours before flying on to IAH. CO agent said that they had 10,000 persons with missed connections at IAH yesterday. . .

yes when we get rough weather here at IAH, MSY, SAT, AUS, and MSY get the brunt of our diversions as we get a large number of DFWs when they are getting pounded.

That is surprising. Even though the plane was fully loaded, she would need very little fuel to make it the 40 minutes to IAH. I have seen UA 744s flying LAX-DEN take off short of where the WN 737s were taking off. It was funny, as the WN 73Gs were showing off their performance with 6,000 foot take offs, and this massive jumbo did it in 5500. Why would the 777 (especially a CO ER model with the high power engines) have a problem.

N1120a Incorrect Houston is no longer the most polluted city in the U.S. (it is still ranked in the top 5) and that had absolutely nothing to do with the weather diversions. It was fog and storms.

Diversions were due to IAH weather.

CO 777 took off on runway 19 like a shot out of a cannon. Had lots of room to spare.

CO narrow body diversions parked at the end of concourse D. As Steve said, 767 parked at C-1, 777 at C-11.

AF 777 parked at the end of concourse B, was here for not much over one hour.

The diversion of my flight to AEX was weather related. Interestingly the pilot told us before leaving LIT that he expected the weather to improve at IAH before we arrived, turns out the closer we got, the worse it got. We were told by the CO captain that the airport was completely closed for a time yesterday afternoon.

And that is what tugs at Fred's heart strings. As I recall, F will only be on the 777s, so would an A332 be a possibility. Or wait for it...a 7E7 if ordered  Big thumbs up?

yes... but they're still aimed at higher-yielding markets than the A343s are

Well...the cost to bribe every Skyteam airlines agent who could possibly do such a horrid thing would increase the cost exponentially I suppose...but maybe just a non-refundable ticket with an insane change fee could do the trick  Big grin
