Hey Diesel1, Gkirk!

Yeah you guys are right it will be flown by Astraeus B73Gs. Al-Alamein will be the ninth Egyptian destination from the UK after Cairo, Alexandria, Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor, Hurghada, Taba, Aswan and Marsa Alam.

"The KATO Group has just completed the construction of the El Alamein International Airport so as to be fully operational prior to the opening of the Moevenpick Resort & Spa. The airport is a convenient 19 kilometres drive from the resort, allowing guests easy access. The new hotel will be at the core of a resort spanning 120,000 square metres of land, only 38,000 square metres of which will be developed. This exciting new destination will incorporate five hotels, a golf course, a shopping mall, a sports complex, and a wide range of villas." (http://www.intoegypt.com/docs/article_details.asp?AR_ID=384)

I also found more information here: http://www.lastminute.com/lmn/pso/catalog/Product.jhtml?CATID=91548&PRODID=306871736

Flights
* Carrier - Astraeus
* From - London Gatwick to Egypt
* Outbound - Various dates from March 21 to October 23
Departs 10.15 to 13.30 - arrives 17.45 to 20.45
* Inbound - After 7 nights
Departs 18.20 to 21.30 - arrives 21.50 to 00.50

However there does seem to be some confusion in the above link. At the start it mentions the flights will be to Alexandria's new Borg Al-Arab Airport but later states it'll be to Al-Alamein Airport (opened up June last year). Both airports are around 2 hours apart by car. Maybe Bwaflyer knows?

Astraeus will also triple their scheduled flights on the LGW-SSH route from 1x weekly to 3x weekly this summer. At the same time they'll also launch a weekly scheduled service between MAN and SSH. Anyone know if they'll use the B752 on these services instead of the B73G?

El-Alamein (sp?) (I should really know!!) is a 73G flight weekly from LGW. MAN-SSH is also 73G as MAN is not a 757 base.

Bwaflyer, will they initially fly to Borg Al-Arab Airport or will it be to El Alamein International Airport from the start? Astraeus have 'pioneered' a number of new routes to Egypt including Taba, Marsa Alam and now El Alamein...nice!

Are TCY still coming to NCL in the summer. I can't wait if they are, I've never seen a 747 at NCL, I've seen concorde, but still waiting to see my good old favourite.

Alcregular, from what I've heard yes, although it may be a European 747 that operates the flights  Big grin

Also flyBe go to 2 Daily to SOU already, with 1 flight on a 146 and the other on a DH8-400
