Emirates Double Daily To Dusseldorf & B777-300ER

Wed Feb 02, 2005 6:28 am

Dusseldorf is becoming a very important destination for Emirates. Effective from April 2006 - right on time for the FIFA world cup - the airline will start a second daily flight. Aircraft types not yet disclosed.

In the mean time EK will significantly increase capacity by fall 2005, replacing the current A340-300 with a new B777-300ER. The number of available seats will go up to 380 from 267.

As I wrote in an earlier thread, the success of this airline is unbelivable but actually not really surprising. They offer very good Eco/Biz/First fares to Dubai and beyond while providing excellent service, furthermore is Dubai a perfect "year-around" holiday destination for Europeans because it is always warm there and rooms in luxury hotels are available for rather low rates.

nice to see that emirates is doing well in the german market.

EK will fill up the second daily flight to DUS without problems...

We will also see how will be HAM doing with the new service starting this year.

Hope that in the future FRA will receive the third flight. Also it would be grate if EK would conect Berlin with DXB.

We will see.

I really expect Berlin to be added soon, probably by next year - again right on time for the World Cup. But what I want to see first is an aircraft upgrade at MUC...the two A332 are getting boring. Want to see A345 or B773ER...ok, just joking.  Wink/being sarcastic

I bet one of those turns into a 773 at least, considering that Muenchen will be a host city.

At what point, if any, does Dubai start getting price competition from other resort areas traditionally frequented by Europeans?

That would be fantastic and definitely worth a ride...  Smokin cool
Rumours "at and around MUC" suggest they might change one A332 to a B772 next year, but who knows. The bigger the better.

380 on a 773ER, is it just me or is that a tight fit? How long is the flight from Dubai?

380 is the amount Boeing quotes for the three class 777-300ER.

Its not a very long flight at all... 6 hoursish.

It just surprises me as others use their 773ER with a far less dense configuration, I thought Emirates would have maximized the amount of first/Business seats?

I'm wondering if EK will stick to their "famous" 3-4-3 seating in Eco on the new B777s. Indeed, 380 sounds like a dense configuration.

Having flown to Dubai four times now on EK in the premium cabins (where service and comfort are above average), my impression is that the lion's share of the cabin space is allocated to economy class, and passengers are packed in back there like sardines.

Boeing 777-300ER brochure material actually uses a slightly lower three class passenger count of 365.

I suspect that Emirates is using a ten abreast economy but a more opulent first than the Boeing standard.

The morning flight will be on a 773ER, while the evening flight will be on an A332.

Here's the schedule from EK's website:

0850 DXB 1255 DUS EK 055 73E-FJY - 7:05 Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su

1505 DXB 1910 DUS EK 057 332-FJY - 7:05 Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su

A number of destinations will be seeing frequency increases later this year.

Starting June 1, Birmingham goes from daily A332 to 2x daily A332.

Starting October 1, Casablanca goes from 6x weekly A332 to daily A332, Moscow goes from 6x weekly A332 to daily A332, Beirut goes from 12x weekly A332 to 2x daily A332.

Plus a lot more.

Regards
