Sun Feb 13, 2005 6:21 am

Well, this is it for Ghana Airways. Ghana International Airlines is the name of the game as of next week... should be interesting to see how they turn out.

What would Skywest be doing to help start up a carrier in Ghana?

The MD-90's shouldn't be hard to come by. Where are the 763's coming from? Leasing company?

North American Airlines might be a good source for wet-leased 767-300s. They are ETops certified and have experience with ACMI operations.

Any info on the routes the new airline will fly? The website only said Europe and West Africa... I guess that means no more flights to BWI or JFK. *sigh* Oh well, the best of luck to the new venture, I hope it works out.

According to an interview with their CEO, flights to the US will commence on their own metal about 18 months after they commence operations (due to regulatory conditions, etc). Before that they plan on codesharing with another airline.

Any specific cities mentioned? Would they be nonstops from ACC? I ask that because I'm not sure if a 763 can do ACC-JFK (for example) nonstop...

Thanks,

ACC-JFK no problem for the 763.

The interview said they would enter a strategic partnership agreement with another carrier. That same line also said risk and revenue sharing. Sounds like NWA/KLM do to me. I wonder which carrier they will use? Could it be an ACMI with World or North American?

GH used to fly North American B763 from ACC-JFK, however the flight used to tech stop in Sal Island due to payload restrictions.

It could many airlines or ACMI operators.

But seeing as you are listed as the administrative contact for the domain ghanainternationalairlines.com you would be better positioned to tell us what is what.

Also, people should take note of this.

The address used on the registration for the domain is:

Jeffery Ralph Atkin ([email protected], [email protected])
+1.5614521947
Fax: +1.5618922973
1240 E 100 S
Suite 10
St George, UT
US

Do a search. You'll find that Atkin was a member of the Jet Acquisition Group -- remember them for their laughable plan of a billion dollar buyout of TWA? (As was acvitale)

This Atkin fellow might be a director of Skywest, but he sure has been involved in some very dodgy shit in the past it seems, if this document is anything to go by:

http://www.isaccorp.org/wwasps/WWASPCrimeReport.doc

It involved companies which he either owns or are directors of being accused of rampant child abuse, torture, illegal imprisonment.

Seems to me that Atkin is simply using his position on the Skywest board to give the project some legitimacy.

Wonder if the authorities in Ghana know of these allegations?

Well hopefully Skywest with remain in charge of this new airline for a while. If not it will be the same old game again with poor maintenance, frequent breakdowns, delays that last for days, etc. etc.. If you want some really horrible stories about Ghana Airways look them up on Epinions.com

Now that an experienced team from overseas is forming the new airline maybe Ghana Airlines will rival Kenya Airways, and SAA in professionalism.
