Help With VS "Upper Class" Seating On A343

Thu Mar 03, 2005 3:37 am

I was originally booked on VS' LAX-LHR-LAX in UC on the B744. I received an email changing my flights to the A343. I must admit I was looking forward to flying on the B744. The reason is unclear, but I can only guess they wanted to sell UC seats on the B744 as mine is an award. I generally read and sleep on flights so I am looking for advice on the best UC seats on the A343.

Thanks in advance,

Don't think any of the A343's have the upper class suite, but I could be wrong.

could be one of two things:

1) If your flights changed from VS7/VS8 to VS23/VS24:

You will most probably be on an A343 - however Suites start getting fitted on the 343's from May/June - so depending when your flight is, it is possible that you may get a Suite.

2) If your flight is still VS7/VS8:

This flight is still operated as a Boeing 744, however is due to change to a an A340-600 later this year.

So this flight will always have Suites.

However, VS computer systems show an A343 rather than an A346 for these flights, however this should (I understand) be updated to show A346 in due course.

Hope that helps!

Rich.

They are starting to install the UC Suite across the A346s. But as far as the A340-300s you'll most likely be flying in the old(er) UC seats:

All A346's have been fully fitted with Suites for a couple of months now, and all new ones are being delivered with it installed.

The only planes without suites are the A343's - which start getting it fitted May/June, and the MAN based 742, which is retiring from the fleet at the end of next month.

I just flew LHR JFK on an A34-6. I had seat 8A. That was pretty nice

Thanks for the feedback. I am surprised they are retrofitting the B742 and A343. I am flying outbound LAX-LHR on 12/11 and return on 12/18 so I am hoping for the A346.

Wow...quite far in advance. Anyway, if you do get on the A343 without suites then I'd say go for the front cabin. I was in the last row of UC on G-VSUN and there were lots of PE passengers walking through the cabin I was in to use the restrooms.
