Gold UAX RJ At ORD

Mon Mar 14, 2005 2:35 pm

While at ORD on March 5, I noticed at gold United Express RJ near the United Express concourse. I was wondering if anybody knows why this jet has gold livery. Unfortunately, I could not get close enough to see the registration number. Thanks!

What do you mean by "Gold Livery"? Like Ted's tail? Or the old livery before the battleship??

Well, the livery coulkd be described as being identical to the 'battleship livery' but with gold in place of the gray. Very odd!

Sounds like an Air Wisconsin CRJ that was still in the colors of Airtran?

MaverickM11, exactly what I was thinking. That came to me when I was reading the thread through again.

UnitedFlyer, could this be what you were looking at?

Personally, what a great world it would be if United and AirTran were one. That would eliminate any deliberation when I am trying to decide who I want to fly more.

You most likely saw one of Air Wisconsin's CRJ's that previously flew as Airtran JetConnect. Those planes have had an interim livery.

Is this what you saw

That is exactly what I saw! Thanks for clearing this up. I have seen this livery a few times now and was just wondering what the deal was!

It's funny this is being talked about today - I just flew in from BMI on the very aircraft you saw.

I believe that it is the only one left now - N439AW.

Of course, this aircraft may see US Airways colors before United...  cheeky
