Flight Tracking Web Sites
There is a flight tracking web site that is often referenced on CNN Headline News when they give the report on hub airport status. It graphically displays all of the traffic inbound/outbound to a specfic airport, showing the aircraft's position on a map of the U.S. Does anyone know what the link is?

It's very similar, but I don't believe you have to sign up to use it. The aircraft images on the one that I'm referring to are in green or yellow I believe

The one that most TV companies show is Flight Explorer. It is great graphically but can work out expensive for the enthusiast.
I have been using Red One Aviation for the past year or so. It's good for basic data if you don't want/need all the fluff, and it's reliable and has some nice features like where stuff is based.

No programs for the UK unless you pay CAA ATC fees (i.e. you are an airline or aircraft operator).
The CAA decided to remove the data from the FAA flight tracking feeds a few years back, and require that individual companies 'prove' their credentials before seeing the data...
...so the answer is not for the average enthusiast.
The CAA was working on a public system a while back, but I believe it got put on hold after 9/11.
