Anybody know which airlines serve this airport, and mores the point where's the nearest hub if flying from UK, Vancouver or Calgary?

Thanks!

I believe the closest airport is Kelowna approx 10-15 miles south of Vernon.

Norhtern Hawk is the only airline with scheduled service to Vernon. They fly King Airs to Trail, YYC & YVR. More info can be found here: http://www.vernonairport.com/

Fly to Kelowna. It has lots of service including Seattle service on Horizon. Vancouver and Calgary on Air Can and WestJet. Plus some other destinations as well.

Kelowna is well-served from either YVR or YYC, although YVR will have more flights to and from the UK than YYC.

BA, AC, Air Transat, Zoom, My Travel offer service between Vancouver and the UK.

Don't forget that if you fly into Kelowna you can see the Hangars of Kelowna Flightcraft, the current owners of Convair, theres always a couple CV-580's sitting on the ramp with some older 240/340's parked at the north end of the airport. If you come in winter time you can see about 10 CV-580's parked on their ramp as all the Convair Air Tankers are in YLW for their winter maintenance.

Also come december there will be Harmony Airways flying B757-200's into YLW for non-stop YLW-HNL flights.

Greetings from Vernon ...  wave

The only air-service Vernon (YVK) has is Northrernhawk Air with services from Calgary (just starting) on Mondays and Fridays and to Trail. Vancouver service is not available at the moment. Aircraft type is a Beech King Air 100.

The Vernon airport is more of a gerneral aviation airport, the runway is only 3360ft by 75ft. They want to extend it to 4000ft, but everyone is griping about that.

YLW is only a 30 minute drive south and has lots of flights with WestJet, Air Canada Jazz, Regional 1 and Horizon. Points served are YYZ, YYC, YEG, YVR, YYJ and SEA, among other smaller airports. As mentioned above, Kelowna is home to Kelowna Flight Craft, so lots of CV-580's, various 727's and they also were just awarded a contract for 757's.

If you're coming from the UK, YVR is your best bet, YYC being second.

If you're coming in the summer, make sure you bring your bathing suit, we got lots of beaches. Drop me an email if you're in town!
