Whale Sharks Survive UPS Flight

Tue Jun 07, 2005 10:48 pm

I just thought this was rather interesting, and a nice departure from some of the things normally circulated here.

Wow - Amazon.com has SERIOUSLY branched out. Do you think you get free delivery if you order more than USD25.00 worth of sharks ?

I wonder if they had contingency diversion plans in place if the whale sharks had died in flight? A great deal of tartar sauce would have been needed.

It is very interesting to see how these fish were moved, however it is sad as well. I have seen many of these in the wild and they are magnificent creatures. I cannot imagine they will survive long in captivity as 13 feet is merely a baby...Anyways an awesome move by UPS by keeping them alive for this long.

No, but do you remember the thread about the penguins on their way to Sea World that had to walk through a TSA medal detector?!?!

Man I am suprised that they made it. I work for a vendor of ups and the way those packages are handeled at the sort facility before they head up to the airplane is insane. I guess they had special handlers. Luckily for the whale sharks.
