Nearest Airport To BDA

Tue Jun 28, 2005 4:48 am

What is the nearest airport to Bermuda International (TXKF)? I think Ocean City Maryland (KOXB) is in contention at 624nm away. Any airports with a runway 2500 ft or longer qualifies (doesn't have to be hard surfaced). I know in terms of big airports Norfolk is probably closest but I'm talking overall. Just curious.

The closest point of land to Bermuda is Cape Hatteras, North Carolina but I haven't the remotest idea if there's an airport there.

There ya go, then!!

(Unless, of course, you're talking major airports with flights to Bermuda...in which case you're probably talking BOS...less than 2 hurs flight time, usually)

HSE is a 3000-ft asphalt runway-- 573 nm says the GC mapper. That will be hard to beat.

W95 (2,998 ft paved runway), KFFA (3,000 ft paved runway) and KMQI (several paved runways over 2,500 ft) are 588, 588, and 589 nm, respectively, coming in tied second and third below HSE.

I am not as savvy as most of you with aiport abreviations, but if PVD is a major airport and I'm GUESSING..Providence, RI??...we have no commercial flights coming here from Providence. That's not to say that the private jets don't fly here from there, or even charters...

Just curious do you need a US Passport to fly to Bermuda from an US airport?

You forgot EWN, ILM, PGV, MYR.. which are all closer than ORF..

RDU can't be father away than ISP, LGA, ACY, or BDL.. it has to be much closer than that.. BDA is directly off the Carolina coast..

OK, let me re-quantify my choices. I used airports that have more than a couple token flights to the nearest hub(s).

MYR wasn't included after I saw how far CHS was.

The numbers are right out of the OAG/Skyguide magazine and/or Sabre. I didn't just make them up!

It may be off the Carolina coast, but don't forget how the curvature of the earth effects straight line distances...

That is correct but upon departure you most likely be able to get US Customs Clearance in Bermuda as there are US Customs Officers on the island. This allows you to avoid any delays upon your return to the USA.

By the way, please let me know when you are arriving as I would love to talk a photo of your aircraft as you come into land on runway 12 or 30.

You haven't used http://gc.kls2.com? As long as you don't need the distance more precise than the nearest kilometer, they're as good as any.

a bunch of us went for spring break a few years ago and only i had a passport. the rest used birth certificate, social security card, driver's licenses, etc. ec.

worked just fine.
if assumptions could fly, airliners.net would be the world's busiest airport

Exactly - That's what I thought. I thought your birth certificate and Social Security card were sufficient. When did this change?

I didn't think a US citizen needed a passport to fly to the British Virgin Islands, Aruba, Bonaire, etc...
