US Airways also codeshares on the following Bahamasair flights:
NAS-FLL/MCO/MIA/PBI
FPO-FLL
NAS-ELH/FPO/GGT/GHB/MHH/TCB/ZSA

USA 3000 is also starting a twice weekly NAS-EWR in September i believe. It was in the local paper a while back. There's also a Stella Maris-FLL service on Bahamasair (2x weekly i think)

* All of Delta hubs are covered save SLC. Could we see a NAS-SLC service in the future? And didn't US Air use to serve PIT from NAS?

Hooters is NAS-MYR. Now only leaves United to offer anything, maybe a Ted service to DEN or IAD (wishful thinking i know).

Gee, B6 wants it all, i'm not so sure about the FLL-NAS, that seems pretty saturated with NK, UP and I think US will start service to NAS in the fall. I think cities in the midwest would stand a chance. (MSY and IAH could be good ones also) The east coast is pretty saturated tho. Just my thoughts

They are looking at FLL-NAS or MIA-NAS. Definitley crowded, but oh well. They'll do well on the route.

American, Continental, Delta, Bahamasair, Chalk's, Spirit, and FlyFirst Class all fly between FLL and Nassau.

I sure hope they do well since it means more tourists hopefully to the Bahamas and not just the same passengers switching airline preferences. If so, that could spell bad news for the smaller, less productive airlines or the ones that have Prop service to and from the islands. ie. CO, AA and UP's DHC-8

i think maybe a seasonal flight to LAS would work but with what aircraft? thats is a pretty long flight going westbound and I cant think of an aircraft suited for that kind of niche market...anybody knows what aircraft would be good for a seasonal NAS-LAS flight?

An extended range Cessna 9-seater.

There is no market for such a flight, none at all. The Bahamas is primarily an East Coast destination. West coaster's go to Hawai'i.

American Airlines discovered this easily after seeing very mixed results with their DFW-NAS flights, which are now seasonal.

The terminal is closed because they are building a new three-story terminal. It is delayed because the whole island is being redeveloped, and they still need to finalize exactly where it is going.

Yeah, they did operate the Dash 7's, where to I dont know, but i do know that it was favored alot more than UP even if just to avoid the traffic delays and hassle at NAS.

I think they built a short strip on Paradise Island for the DHC07's. I lived on Paradise Island and Chalks terminal was a 5 minute walk from home and great for biz trips to MIA and FLA.

No queues, no hassle and great FF programme, take 10 flights and get a Chalks tee-shirt. FLA was great in those days, 9 pax on flight and 10 immigration people  Smile

Are you sure you didn't mean an EMB-110? As far as I remember, Sky Unlimited and Southern Air Charter had B1900Cs, whereas Cat Island Air and LeAir Charters operated Bandits alongside their Aztecs/Navajos

Its a law the Bahamas has to prevent Bahamians from gambling. Their belief is that the citizens will spend all of their paychecks in the casino's and not have a dime to take home to feed their families. The thing about that is many Bahamaians already gamble illegally (Cash3, Florida Lotto etc.) without going to a casino. It's a big business in the Bahamas. This law is being revisited to allow Bahamians to gamble but from what I know, is being strongly opposed by the "Christians and Christian Council". The funny thing about that is alot of the christians are closet gamblers.

Haha don't even get me started on the CC...if they had their way, everyone would have to go to Church 24/7, the only legal music would be gospel music, and there would probably be a tax to support the self-proclaimed pastors and their extravagant lifestyles *cough cough "Bishop" Ellis*...but I digress.

On a separate note, I'm happy to see that there has been an ORD-NAS service started; I wonder why UA didn't jump on that opportunity earlier...

I've only seen Hooters Air a couple times in NAS, and both times it was a 737-300. Perhaps they alternate with the -200, but that's my guess.

It is alternated with the -200, when the demand does not warrant the -300

They are public charters. Tickets are sold as if it is a scheduled service, and it operates on a standard schedule, but the flight is essentially a charter flight, just with the tickets sold to anybody, not just tour groups, vacation packages, etc.

Correct MAH4546, Laker Bahamas operated the same way out of Freeport with 727's. It was a hotel Junket charter but the service was scheduled to which alot of Grand Bahamians liked having jet service again to FLL also where you could carry cargo. The only thing i think that limits FPO's airlift capacity is the fact that Discovery cruise lines operates daily to FLL. You can carry alot more baggage for about less than half than you would pay as overweight on an airliner.
