Air Canada 874 Mystery?

Today August 16th 2005, the 767-300ER that was doing YUL to FRA departed at 5:15 pm and returned two hours later back at YUL!!! And departed once more to FRA at 10:00 pm??? Does anyone know why it came back?

Maybe it didn't have enough fuel for the flight. Hope AC isn't skimping on fuel costs...

I thought it was Air Transat that had the fuel leak in the acores.

Air Transat had a fuel leak which caused a deadstick landing in the Azores. An Air Canada B767 ran out of fuel on it's way from YOW to YEG and had to deadstick at Gimli, an abandoned RCAF base. Their fuel guages were inop, so the dummies calculated the fuel in the aircraft using weight. Problem was, they calculated it in pounds instead of kilos, so they had about half the fuel required to make the trip.

As far as 874 is concerned, yes the aircraft did return to YUL.
