Do WestJet 737-800s Have PTV's?

Sun Aug 21, 2005 1:47 pm

My travel agent told me that the YYZ-YVR-YYZ flights are being done now with 737-800s and they are not equipped with the PTVs. I though all the new planes are being fitting with the ptvs... any one have any info on this.
Thanks

Just flew on a WestJet 738 back in July from YYZ to FLL and it did not have PTV's. They will be installed but not yet. I don't know when they were going to begin installation.

Only on -700s so far. The rest are being rolled out progressively. From their site:

WestJet currently offers comfortable leather seats, more legroom and live seatback television on all of its Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 aircraft. We plan to have all of our 737-600s and 737-800s equipped with live seatback television by the spring of 2006 so you will get even more enjoyment out of every WestJet flight you take! Until then, we can not guarantee that your flight will offer all of these inflight features.

We are squeezing every last seat we can out of the 800's right now so they're not gonna go out to get TV's put on them until the busy summer season is over.. As for the 600's, since we are the first to be operating them in Canada, we have get the TV system on them certified by the FAA and corresponding Canadian Authority. Same for winglets actually. So it's gonna be a while, sometime in 2006 for all, not counting each new aircraft we get every month. We just got Tail 235 a couple of days ago.

Peace.

It comes down to transport Canada, they need to approve the TV on the -800 and the -600, and once it is approved they will all be equiped with it the TV's
