Has AA now officially announced that they will fly this route?

There was also a rumor that they want to start JFK-DUS flights, any news about that?

When AA starts both NCL and DUS service, you could book the NCL flight and I could book the DUS flight and we could meet at JFK. Don't worry, you will be drunken before you will be in Manhattan because we can already start to drink at JFK, I know a nice bar there.  Wink

Looking forward to ANY new service!!!

Seriously, it is a joke that Germany's most populated area doesn't have nonstop flights to the USA (except those Privatair all Biz Class flights).

AA at DUS would be more than welcome!

You are absolutely correct, LT is also operating to MIA, MCO, LAX, etc. but somehow I do not count LT as a "real scheduled" airline, they are still the classic charter airline for me despite they are selling seats to non tour package passengers since a long time.

Anyway, would be nice to see at least on scheduled American airline again at DUS, too bad that CO discontinued their service to EWR after 9/11.  Sad

Nope, I just looked on LT's website.

Summer 05 (until 10/31/05:

Days 1-2-4-5-6-7 nonstop from DUS

Winter 05/06 (from 11/01/06 until 04/30/06):

Days 1-2-4-5-7 nonstop from DUS

Only one day (Saturday) is discontinued during the winter season, on all other days is the flight still bookable.

My buddy at AA said that they were looking for another city to fly to in Germany. How many US carriers are flying to DUS and TXL? I'm guessing DUS would be a good route for AA to fly since CO is at TXL. Less competition.

Regards.

DUS has no American carrier since CO left, TXL has DL and CO since a few months, DUS would have indeed no competition from the USA, just LT and Privatair's all Biz Class flights.

As I wrote, it is completely beyond me why DUS has no scheduled flight to the USA on an American airline, the DUS and close Ruhr Area is the most populated area in whole Europe!

For those that can afford it. Which in your view would be anyone who lives in NJ.  Silly

IMHO, I think that AA in DUS is something that will happen. Like others have said, CO has TXL, and HAM, so AA in DUS is ripe for the picking with little competition.

False is such a strong term, I know I've read it's a seasonal flight. The LTU radio advertisements on WOR, WCBS 880 etc all explained the flights are seasonal.

You might not count it, but they are a real airline, and a significant amount of their trans-Atlantic traffic is actually not booked through tour companies, especially the Miami and Los Angeles routes.

I did read that the tickets were going on sale sometime in August, so they better pull their finger out, cos there's not much left of this month, lol. I checked the NCL website, but it only had the original announcement of the route.

I did not know there was such an aircraft.

Isn't it a shame that BA didn't take the opportunity to develop these regional routes to the US? BHX now has two CO flights a day to Newark and I understand that there is going to be more soon. How come the American airlines are capitalising on this, and not a British airline (especially BA with it's connections with AA to provide onward travel around the US)? BA should be renamed "Air London" or something like that...

You are right. All new routes require US Government approval. This has been lodged with the US authorities, but they seem to be on holiday at the moment. Expect approval soon.

Probably, but it is up to BA if they want to. If BA thinks that they will lose too much compared to routing pax via LHR/LGW, then they may choose not to. They opted not to on MIA-MAN, for example.
