Not that I mind , but just wondering why?

Because it's the registration of the aircraft: F-GSEX. Just like you would have BCD written if the reg had been F-ABCD

It's the registration code. And since only the last three letters are written on the nose gear door that's why: F-GSEX = SEX

Corsair has / had some other nice regs like that.
F-GSUN = SUN
F-GTOM = TOM
F-GSEA = SEA

Are there any rules that regulate the aircraft regos. I mean the only airline I know with "cool" registrations is Virgin. Everybody else just uses the mix of letters and numbers. So was th question about this particularv rego ever raised? I mean may be someone thought it was inappropriate.

It's the essential part (last three letters) of the registration (F-GSEX), many aircraft carry that on the gear doors.

Corsair is one of numerous airlines which choose odd (in that case funny) registrations in order to draw attention. Other examples are F-GSUN or F-GSEA.

Corsair has never operated to Saudi-Arabia or Iran, so I don't think it's a problem to carry the regs.  Wink

Btw, the next issue (September/October) of Skyliner Magazine will feature a long article on odd registrations, with many examples across the world.

It certainly would be a bonanza for lawyers. Anybody could file a suit against the airline for being forced onto an aircraft with a lewd registration.

Vive la France, BTW.

OK.
SEA/SEX/SUN & SKY, I think everybody knows what it means on this forum...

Quoting CV747 (Reply 2):
F-GTOM = TOM

TOM means in French : "Territoires d'Outre Mer" or Overseas Territory.
F-GTOM was the registration of Corsair's B747SP that was flying to these "TOM" (Tahiti, etc...)

Quoting Ariis (Reply 9):
F-HJAC = JAC(K)

JAC for JACques Mailliot, founder and former CEO of "Nouvelles Frontières", the T.O owner of Corsair.

Quoting Ariis (Reply 9):
F-GTUI = TUI

The TUI group, of course, the new parent company.

The definition of "sex" from http://www.dictionary.com:
1.
a. The property or quality by which organisms are classified as female or male on the basis of their reproductive organs and functions.
b. Either of the two divisions, designated female and male, of this classification.
2. Females or males considered as a group.
3. The condition or character of being female or male; the physiological, functional, and psychological differences that distinguish the female and the male. See Usage Note at gender.
4. The sexual urge or instinct as it manifests itself in behavior.
5. Sexual intercourse.
6. The genitals.

Hardly lewd, is it?

Wouldn't the SEA, SEX and SUN registrations come from the song from Serge Gainsbourg, precisely titled "Sea, sex and sun"?

I think Sea/sex/sun is a universal "leitmotiv" for people going on vacations...
Corsair carries almost exclusively tourists to those "paradisiac" destinations ... these registrations seem just very appropriate for Corsair's business !

actually you're wrong  Silly
Corsair did some "hadj" flights on a charter basis to Saudi Arabia
that would be quite cool to send F-GSEX on these flights  bouncy
of course we wouldn't be sure to have the plane back....there would be a fatwah for the metal to be lapidated in public airport or something

LOL concerning the idea of the same machine boarding folks from the Bible belt
imagine the lawsuit:community against Corsair for "forcing pax to board a lewd and lascivious aircraft"  rotfl

Since nobody bring this up until now, Corsair took advantage of the F-GSEX reg. and painted that "kiss" on the fuselage. It's the only 747 they have with that "sexy appeal" painted on!

Just like that, Airbus also took advantage of regs. to register their A380s...

First, F-WWOW -> "WOW"
Second, F-WXXL -> "XXL"

I wonder how the third will be registered... Smile

Happy landings,

Then again, never underestimate the power of bored baggage handlers.

Back in the late 1980's I worked on the ground for Pan Am, and you wouldn't believe the amount of graffiti in and under some airplanes.

Does anyone regulate these reg nums in any country? I'm sure if there is a country out there that does it Canada might be the one. I remember a couple years ago some ppl here were having a fit about car license plates with KKK on them. I'd imagine that a C-UNTS registration might get the same reception...
