NW Cutting Routes?

Mon Oct 03, 2005 9:47 am

Is NW cutting any routes? One route I noticed is that MSP-PNS is no longer in the schedules for this winter. Are any other routes cut as well?

I noticed that in November, NW goes from 7 flights a day from LAN to DTW to six and from two flights a day from LAN to MSP to one. They are also dropping the early evening flight from MBS to MSP, but retaining the morning trip.

So far, at least until December sometime probably after the holidays, NW has stated that cuts are to frequencies and aircraft gauge only and not cities. Traditionally PNS has had cuts for maybe 30 to 60 days after Oct 1st I believe.

LGW-MSP is going this winter and DTW-CDG is losing frequency.

That would mean DTW-CDG wouldn't exist anymore as Northwest 50 only flies once daily to CDG.

I think he means/meant a weekly frequency.

I see RST, DSM, and CID all have lost NW mainline.

It was in the schedules for early January 2006. But it's not in the schedules anymore. I hope the route isn't cut before it is even started again.

Starting yesterday I believe it was... NW has dropped mainline (DC9) from ABE on the ABE-DTW run, and believe it or not, downgraded it all the way to a Mesaba Saab 340, mixed in with the other CRJ's.

LIT lost the afternoon MSP (9E) flight two months ago and next month we will lose the midday DTW and midday MSP (both 9E) flights. Also right now our third MEM departure that is usually a DC9 is now a CRJ.  Sad

I hope MSP-PNS is not cut either. I would be really surprised, this route was really packed last year when I flew it as was the seasonal PNS-DTW. I wonder if AA starting ORD-PNS affected PNS-MSP by drawing passengers away from NW's route? I was price checking for my annual trip down there in Feb and noticed it was no longer there, which means a change of planes for me in MSP and MEM like I have done numerous times. I love flying but double connecting really makes for a long day. It was really nice only having to connect one time last year in MSP since CID does not have non stop MEM service. I am now tempted to book AA through either ORD or DFW since these will be the only one stop options.

Not dropping the route, but GRR-MEM goes to a Pinnacle CRJ from a DC-9 for November. GRR-MEM has been a Mesaba ARJ at times too.

Arrg! I was booked on the diesel 9 and now I'm stuck on the CRJ- hate those low windows!!
Direct KNOBS, maintain 2700' until established on the localizer, cleared ILS runway 26 left approach.
