Lookw very nasty indeed. At a first glance at the picture, you could be mistaken to think the tail had been on fire. Wonder if the guy get sacked for this incident? If he keeps his job, I wouldn't like to be in the room when he gets his review.

Its time Thomas Cook looked at their long haul fleet. 2 A330s is very tight should anything like this arise.

We are doing, unfortunately it doesn`t involve getting any 767s! Third 330 has been approved by Ze Germans for a while but with the management farting about we missed a delivery slot for a new one, looks like we will get another for next summer now  frown  .

Cheers.

You shouldnt have sold yourself out to ze germans then. Thomas Cook would probably be turning in his. We all know Condor and the Germans are the most dominant in the relationship.

Schooner, any truth in the rumour that TCX are looking for some more 757-300s? Heard that rumour on a few other forums.

If they are, thats good news. i was always afraid that the 753 maybe short lived in TCX service.

I've heard from my mate who used to work for them that some 753's may transfer over from Condor, possibly in return for some TCX UK A320's.

The 757-300's are very nice indeed!

The artlicle says that Thomas Cook is furious at the cost. Why should it be? Monarch will have insurance that covers every penny of the cost.

I too like the B757-300 very much, its am impressively long aircraft and I think it looks great in TCX colours. I have flown on G-JMAA, and found it a very comfortable ride. Why don't we see more of them at airports?

Because there are only 2 in the UK, and 15 in the Condor fleet, making 17 in the world total (I think).

They should get a red card for that foul play!

Another useful comment as per usual.

Anyway, the Air Pullmantur Aircraft that operated TCX174P/174K on Friday 7th October covering for G-OJMC was EC-JHD.

No, there are quite a few more than that! Icelandair, Continental and ATA (do they still?) have 753s in their fleets.

People do not get sacked in most cases for bending aircraft unless they are majorly negligent. I mean would you get fired for having an accident in a company vehicle? Only if your are negligent. SO this is no different except the cost to repair is much more. Yes it is expensive but unfornatually it is a cost of doing business. If we worked for a trucking company and had a accident it would not be the end of the world. But since we play arround airplanes when they get bent it costs $$$$.

I was told something when i started in the industry. IF you move ariplanes enough eventually you will hit something...

Well, how annoying was that incident! Just when you thought everything was going smoothly and the summer would finish off ok, someone who can't drive smashes the 330 into the hanger! Great! Just glad it was my day off and i didn't have to deal with it. Its all fixed now though, left for SFB earlier this afternoon on-time.

As Schooner said, there was meant to be another 330 this winter, but this has been delayed i think, so must be next summer! I have heard a rumour that another boeing is due as well, not sure what type though!

Dunno I`m afraid. We either need more of them or none of them. The problem is that yes they are good aircraft but if one goes tech there is only one more aircraft in the fleet that can carry all the pax, such are the difficulties in having multiple types in a fleet. Easier to have a single type so all shorthaul routes/aircraft are interchangeable rather than
a disparate bunch of types that each have different capacities, ranges etc.
The companys not so miffed about the cost of the damage, its the fact that our punters had to wait ages while another aircraft was sourced.

Cheers.

G-OJMC is now back in service sporting a lovely grey tail rudder which matches the grey engine cowling perfectly. Not looking her best, but in the skies once again!
