Airline's A380 Routes

Wed Oct 12, 2005 10:42 am

What routes are airlines going to use their A380's when they get them??

AF:CDG-LAX,JFK,YUL,NRT, colonial routes
LH:FRA-LAX,JFK,MUC,LHR
MH:KUL-HKG,LAX
PA (future): MNL-LAX,SFO and maybe DXB and HKG
EK:DXB-AKL,MEL/SYD,Japan,FRA,LHR/LGW
TG:BKK-???
FX:MEM/OAK-Asian routes
UPS:SDF-Asain routes

I can't think of all of the future operators but you can put known routes and potential routes.  Smile

Hasn't been talked about in awhile. Good idea to check back in.

Isn't SQ going to use them on LHR and SYD routes? Maybe on some NRT routes?
QF is rumored, if I am right, to use it on SYD-LAX.
Some might use them on Trans Atlantic to places like JFK.

I think we will know soon.

PA!! Pan Am can barely fly their 727s. I think you want to say PR for Philippine Airlines.

PS. If you do a search, this topic has been discussed a few times with many possible routes.

KE also ordered the A380-800. It has also ordered the 787-8 and has a fleet of 767s and A330s.

I would think KE would the A380 on hoppers between ICN and NRT. ICN has seen a big increase to Europe with passengers originating in western Japan. So they could use them to Europe as well.

As MD90fan posted, I see at least a few:

Air France:
CDG-JFK
CDF-YUL

Lufthansa:
FRA-JFK
FRA-SIN

Singapore:
SIN-LHR
SIN-SYD

How about VS? Their LHR-SFO is normally quite full and I think one A380 to SFO will help them fight the two BA's 744 and the two UA T7's to LHR daily. Not sure what otehr route they'll fly the fugly jumbo and can't wait to fly it to LHR someday in VS colors (and the promised gym by Branson..lol)

QF has stated:
SYD/MEL-LAX, with MEL-LAX first.
SYD/MEL-LHR via (any or all of) SIN, BKK & HKG next.

And we can speculate:
(SYD/MEL)-LAX-JFK & SYD-DFW

Converting all frequncies on these routes will take up all airframes currently on order/option

Hi all,

JNB will definitely be a route from somewhere, does anyone know which airline will operate to JNB? "Echo" apron is being constructed and almost finished with 4 parking bays for the A380. Taxiways are also being modified and almost complete.

From NRT: AF, LH, SQ, KE, FX, 5X highly likely.
Also possibles are TG, MH & VS.
KIX & NGO should see FX & 5X A380Fs going between China/HKG & US too.

767? Rather 777.

Concerning the A380 routes, I think LH will use them from FRA to

JFK
SFO
MIA
LAX
MEX
GIG
GRU
JNB
SIN
PEK
PVG
INC
NRT

and other places, depending on demand and if the airports can handle them.

What about QR and EY???

EK will also operate them on MANY routes cause they are buying 40 + of them!!! I think they will operate Germany, UK, Australia, India, Auckland and China on them!!!

Also didn't a Chinese airline buy some of the A 380's as well?

Emirates will have a lot of destinations for the A380. What would you think about Northern America? They have the range for it.

EY? Not sure. FRA, LHR, NRT, PEK, PVG, JFK, SYD? They ordered 4, think they might buy more at the Dubai Airshow? How much rivalry is there between Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

QR will only get 2 IIRC, and not before 2009. I guess LHR will be a destination, not sure about others.

Quoting EK156 (Reply 16):

China Southern did. They don't have too many destinations in Europe or the US. I could imagine they'll use it to CDG, AMS, LAX, SYD.

I can see the following flights to SFO by A380's by 2010:

Air France: AF 084/085 CDG-SFO-CDG (summer only)
Lufthansa: LH 454/455 FRA-SFO-FRA (year-round)
Singapore Airlines: SQ 001/002 SFO-HKG-SIN-HKG-SFO (year-round)
Virgin Atlantic Airways: VS 019/020 LHR-SFO-LHR (year-round)

Bad load factor on HongKong/Sydney only. This is down to the previous London/HongKong sector being booked full all the time and no seats for thru London/Sydney traffic. A380 will (partially) solve this problem.

AF being the most eminent about serving MIA w/ the 380!

According to airbus information AMS is!
Can't find that information since the site has changed

I also heard the A380 route for MH on AMS.
Maybe EK cargo in the future.

An airport where you are probably guaranteed to see the A380 from two or more airlines is JFK.

Virgin Atlantic plans to fly the A380 to JFK from LHR and also Air France does plus some more airlines.

As I heard LH and AF wants to take their A380 to MEX, also QF wants to fly the route to MEX and JFK and SQ wants to fly its big super jumbo to LatAm I don't know if they are considering MEX but as I wrote above LH and AF are sure to take their big fat plane to Mexico City.

Agree. I think GIG will see first AF's A380 on CDG-GIG. They are using a 744, change to a high density (462 seats) and the flight keeps with extremely high loads.
LH need to come back to GIG first.

Malaysia Airlines will send their A380s to LHR, AMS and SYD. These are the only cities in MH's network to get 744s on a daily, year-round basis at the moment.

LAX should see MH A380s as well, MH currently fly there 5x weekly on 744. PER also gets daily MH 744 depending on seasonal demands, while MEL twice daily flights are all served on 772. We could also see A380s a couple of times a week at CDG, MAN or HKG with a mixture of 744 and/or 772.

You forgot BKK and maybe HKG.
Also MUC-BKK is quite likely on LH or TG. TG has a 5x/week 744 year-round and LH a daily A343 or A346 (continuing 4x/week to KUL and 3x/week to SGN).

In the US, ORD and IAD have the demand to support a daily flight, but on these two frequency may be important. If SFO continues its growth, a A380 flying MUC-SFO could be likely in the summer.
Not in the US, but PVG comes to mind (currently a daily A346 year-round).
