Summary of two news articles on Yahoo Finance ..

Airbus expects to deliver 360 planes this year and 400 in 2006.

not sure I understand that - there's been well over 1000 orders already, and still a whole bunchload of A350 orders, and 777 orders (like Qatar) which will be finalised this year......

Wrong! So far we have:

Totals Boeing
Gross: 652
Net: 625
Pending: 298

Totals Airbus
Gross: 417
Net: 432
Pending: 383

Totals B & A
Gross: 1069
Net: 1057
Pending: 681

Net plus Pending: 1738

It isn't impossible to see from B and A 1,600 firm orders by the end of the year.

Ghost,

Just a small correction - Airbus's net so far is 407, not 432. And their pending is 408. It's not really possible to have a higher net total than a gross total. . .  Wink

That brings both manufacturer's totals to:

Gross: 1069
Net: 1032
Pending: 706

Impressive no matter how you look at it!

Absolutely. Not to mention some fairly major orders still yet to be announced from the likes of CX, QF, EK, NZ and SQ to mention a few.

Hey Hamlet69, thanks a lot for your help! I tried to consider LA's new order to the totals taking into consideration your orders thread!... so new gross for A would be 442? Net 432? and 383 Pending? Is that right and possible?

Great news indeed for both. However, and not intending to burst anyone's enthusiasm, if the deadly Avian Flu breaks out soon like a lot of medical experts are predicting it could crush orders for the remainder of the year (and next).

The 25 for LAN have already been included in the Pending tally for Airbus. For more information, see:

2005 Orders (Pt. II) (by Hamlet69 Sep 10 2005 in Civil Aviation)

[Edit: Ghost, after reading your post a second time I realize I jumped the gun. My apologies. But to answer your question, the LAN order officially becomes "firm" after it appears on Airbus' periodic spreadsheet. Case in point, the IC order for 43 A319/A320/A321 is still not firm on Airbus' spreadsheet despite the announcements].

Unlike Boeing's order website, Airbus only updates the Orders & Deliveries spreadsheet monthly (typically about a week in to the next month.) LAN and IC's orders should appear in October's spreadsheet in early November.

No prob N60659, apologies accepted! Well indeed I know Hamlet69 keeps a strict order on this issues and we all wait to see orders up @ the official B site or A spreadsheet but I just wanted to increase the numbers in order to show that the 1,600 orders by the end of the year aren't that far from reality!

Ahhhh! I should have seen that. Yes, that would be correct (easy really, just add 25 to the gross and net totals, and subract 25 from the pending). One thing to keep in mind, is that I have heard suggestions, though nothing confirmed, that the latest order is tied to a cancellation of one or both of the back-logged A343's. I honestly don't think this will happen (at this point, at least), but it is a possibility.

LAN's order I have no doubt will appear. IC's, however, I'm still curious on. Most of the reports were released during the last week of September, hailing the fact that the long-delayed order was finally done. However, Airbus never issued a press release (still have not, as a matter of fact), nor did it appear in the September update. Until we have word from Airbus, this one will remain "pending."

Regards,

Thanks a lot as always! It sure be interesting to see what will be the A340's two pending deliveries! I still bet my bank account to LA switching to B777 or B787 in the future!

From flight international today http://www.flightinternational.com/A...n+lead+as+orders+pass+1%2c000.html

Quote:
Boeing’s net-order tally for the quarter stands at 199 aircraft, giving it a healthy lead over Airbus’s 139 orders. Both manufacturers saw strong bookings for narrowbody types, with over 100 orders each for the A320 and 737 families during the quarter. Boeing’s performance was helped by a significant number of orders for its 777 and a revival by the 767.

The total of 1,023 orders taken during the first nine months represents an almost threefold increase on the 370 orders taken during the same period last year, although it was Airbus that led the way.

Airbus continued to lead Boeing in output in the third quarter, delivering 82 against its rival’s 62. However the Boeing strike affected the US manufacturer’s September shipments. Total deliveries for the year stand at 488, a 10% increase on the 2004 period. The two manufacturers have projected a combined output of just under 700 aircraft for the full year.
