Does anyone have any information on the specs of Trump's 727? What series 727 is it? Has he sinced replaced it with new engines? It seems odd to me for Trump to be operating a 727 as his private jet - although it looks sweet, is it not quite fuel inefficient for him? (not that he can't afford it)
Can anyone mention any other private aircraft owned by celebrities or corporations?

Trump's 727-23 was delivered to AA in 1968. It does not look like it has the Super 27 engines or the MD-80 engines.
If "The Donald" did his homework, he would have selected a two-holer that could fly with a two-person flight deck crew.

I would not be surprised to see Mr.Trump get a BBJ somewhere down the line. He has had the 727 for I think at least 10-15 years.

I think the fact that his plane cost less than two million dollars to buy makes it a good choice. It has transcon range and plenty of space. He got all of that for pennies compared to the price of a Gulfstream or BBJ. The savings from the purchase probably make up for the extra crew, maintenance and fuel costs. It is not like Trump flies that thing every day anyway.

I bet he could have gotten a DC-9 or 733-200 cheap as well. He would then only need a flight crew of 2 and only have 2 engines to maintain. I know Aloha used to have ETOPS 737-200's flying from CA to HA, so there was range. He must have spent more than 2 million putting the new interior in it.

On one episode of the apprentice, it featured this jet and he specifically stated that he could've bought whatever the hell he wanted to, but "The Donald" is looking for value....he bought the thing for pennies and that's what he liked about it, as someone else mentioned, it starts to make up for the fact that it isn't the most fuel efficient plane in the sky.....

The 727 offers about 50% more floor space as the 732 or DC-9. Furthermore, it looks much more classy and impressive, and this is probably an important point for Donald Trump, in contrast to commercial airlines. The 732 looks maybe funny, but not exactly noble. Beside of that, the range of the 727 is far superior to your alternatives. It can probably go to most places in the Americas, Europe and Asia with just one stop. Finally, I don't know if ETOPS is easy to get for a private a/c.

RR offers Tay engines as upgrade for the 727. Does any know if Trump has bought them?
