Those are the types of passengers you get when your fares are so low or you have too many LCC's where everyone and anyone can fly.

There were in business class, fare hunters don't sit there. This is just a case of a couple being rich, drunk, and stupid.

The reason I said what I said was becasue there was an incident a few weeks ago on an LCC (forget which one) and someone here made a remark about how LCC's cause this "caliber" of people to fly. can't find the link right now.

With landing and repatriation fees, etc. a figure of US$32,000 is being mentioned.

A rather high One Mile High membership fee .... if I may so.

I think the title of this thread is misleading. It is clear from the article that they were arrested because once caught they were abusive - not because they were having sex in the toilet.

I don't see having sex in toilets on an aircraft as being a major crime- if a crime at all. However, there was no need for them to be abusive afterwards.

If you read the article, you'll note that they were seated in Business Class. Last time I checked - Business Class on a longhaul BA flight isn't exactly cheap.

And furthermore for you unmarried people out there, that drink is going to get you one step closer to the Mile High Club!!

I agree. The problem here should be not the fact that they were having sex in toilet but the fact that they were drunk and became outrageous.

Quoting Semsem (Reply 18):

No need to do such a drastic measure, simply it seems strange to me that a person who is clearly going drunk (you don't get drunk from a moment to the other) can ask for, and obtain, another drink. And please don't come tell me that they were flying business, I don't care. The stupidity of few should not compromise the safety of the hundreds of other passenger.
I hope they'll get billed for this.

Maybe the guy's Viagra finally kicked in.... biggrin
Still, who in their right mind would want to have sexual activity in an aircraft loo?  yuck  Then again, they were allegedy pissed/drunk at the time then acted stupid and abusive when 'caught'. I hope they are grounded for many years on BA and any other airline.

For me personally, using the facilities right after such an "event" would bother me though. The thought that some guy just got finished shooting his wad in the same space, leaves me with a bad feeling that the area is now "unclean."

I agree with you, and I am sorry I didn't make it a little more precise, however, it is difficult to make a title that fits while still being short, and the title of this thread also creates some sensationalism
anyway, I still think that having sex on the toilet was the main cause of all these problems so the title is not totally wrong.

EDIT: btw a danish article I read about this event has a similar title to the article as the one I wrote.
http://gossip.tv2.dk/article.php/3322558.html
I know most of you don't understand it anyway, but maybe some other danish a.netters would be kind to confirm it. Directly translated, it says: "Aircraft made an emergency landing after toilet-sex."
I know this isn't the most trust worthy site anyway, that is why I found an article in english aswell.

I agree--it was not the sex that caused the incident, it was the abusiveness post-discovery. I'm generally not in favour of capital punishment, but I think in a case like this it helps society weed out the stupid.

thinking about it, maybe they shoould have been given an extra 30 seconds to finish what they were doing, rather than inconvenience everybody on the aircraft with a diversion. Sounds like flight attendants with not much to do, trying to play sky cop.

Being banned from BA is not such a bad thing !!!

Hey, you all, lighten up out there. I completely agree that drunk and abusive people should be punished as these two will be, but as far as having a lay in the loo, that's absolutely a scream (pardon the pun).

Both the Danish TV2 and the Singapore blog quoted "The Sun" of London, I presume, and we all know what a sterling reputation that yellow tabloid has. Anyway, it was a good read, and I don't think our Danish member should keep apologizing, or checking his sources any further.

From the thread title, I thought someone had sex WITH the toilet...that would definitley call for a diversion and a trip to the looney hospital.

There is nothing wrong with joining the Mile High Club, but once you start beating up the crew, the line is crossed. I hope they bear some if not all of the diversion costs.

Yeh, but why didn't the crew give them another 15 seconds. They were poms right. It would have been all over & the guy would have been asleep 30 seconds later & apart from mess, no one would have been inconvenienced & they still could have been arrested on the ground where they should have landed not diverted !!!!!!!

The holiday flights to the Caribbean from Gatwick are cheap enough in club - just over a grand a pop. FWIW, I was talking with BA Gatwick long haul cabin crew a while back, who told me that the Kingston flights are pure aggravation with assaults on crew not uncommon.

Any airline that does not serve alchohol on their long haul ops will never see my penny, nor a penny of many people.

Why the hell would an airline stop serving alchohol when only a few dumbasses drink to much. If anything have the F/A's monitor the drink consumption of certain passengers.

If I paid a couple thousands bucks to sit in Business Class and I couldn't sleep because people were doing it, I would ask the flight attendents to tell them to stop.

Quoting Simpilicity (Reply 40):

15 more seconds could lead to 15 more minutes. If it were that obvious, then yes, the flight attendents should have given them 15 more seconds...

Yes, we do! But I'm not proud of this national trait.

As others have said here, the bad part of what they did wasn't so much the sex in the toilet, as the way they acted after being pulled out of there. Hope they had a good holiday and enjoy paying the diversion cost.

Making such stupid comments about people based on their nationality is like saying all passengers on Qantas flights must behave like convicts.
