Operations At LHR (regarding Fuel Shortage)

Wed Jan 04, 2006 3:56 am

Sorry if this has been mentioned recently, but are flights departing LHR getting back to normal? I'm off to Hong kong via Tokyo in a weeks time and was wondering if JAL still had fuel stops planned on any of their flights. Last time I heard, they were stopping on the LHR-KIX only. I enquire because my connection time in NRT is not long enough to cover a stop in AMS or FRA.

Cheers

I know LHR is getting fuel fed to them from a diffrent Depot and will be for a while, The Hemel Hempstead depot (Bunchfield) which had a direct pipeline to LHR is not goint to be rebuilt (Thank god!).

Not sure about the pipeline, but Bunchfield itself will not be rebuilt.

well a pipeline runs down from the north, connects to depots along the way including Buncefield (happy dan?  Wink), they can repair the pipe and continue the fuel flow from the north but just have nothing at Hemel.

CX250 has been going direct LHR-HKG since before Christmas which has pleased me as we're doing this in 2 weeks!  Smile

So presumably everything's going direct from LHR now?

Cheers,
Noel

I believe some of the QF flights are still routing via STN for fuel.

Heathrow Airport to Singapore
1 January 2006

As a result of an explosion and serious fire at Buncefield Fuel Storage facility outside London on Sunday 11 December 2005, aviation supplies at London Heathrow Airport have been disrupted.

Airport authorities at London Heathrow Airport have made sufficient fuel available to allow all Singapore Airlines flights from London Heathrow to Singapore to fly non-stop from 1 January to 4 January 2006.

However, if fuel rationing is enforced at the airport after 4 January 2006, the flights will operate from London Heathrow Airport as follows:

SQ317 (daily departure at 1100hrs) - this flight will fly non-stop from London Heathrow to Singapore.

SQ319 (daily departure at 1815hrs) - this flight will fly non-stop from London Heathrow to Singapore on Fridays ONLY. From Saturday to Thursday, the flight will stopover in Frankfurt for refuelling and consequently, will arrive in Singapore at 1640hrs the following day with a delay of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

SQ321 (daily departure at 2215 hrs) - this flight will fly non-stop from London Heathrow to Singapore.
