LPL, GLA and EDI converting to A319 bases

Interesting that LTN gets a LIS destination, STN was tried by Go Fly, LGW gets TAP service. Hopefully BA and TAP will compete on price.

Rumours at work are LTN will also have routes to Naples, Mahon and Ibiza this summer, nice to they added LIS to our already busy schedule, bet a £10 we wont see extra staff to cope with it!

I guess the conversion of EDI and GLA bases to A319 will cover only existing domestic routes?

Is there any possibility of new international routes from Scotland in the near future?

Easyjet have said they will expand services from gla/edi if flyglobespan expand its stansted operation,, so maybe!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank goodness for LPL-MAH. I'll be working for a tour operator this summer in Menorca and want to come back for graduation - last year a colleague did this and had to pay around £500 to fly with JKK to LON. So much for travel discounts when working in the industry - even on our own airline!

At last!!! Now finally LIS seems to be getting a decent LCC network. Monarch was OK, Centralwings and Germanwings too, but now at least some of the main destinations. And it's good to have LTN there as a kind of "LCC hub". Not quite STN, but getting there. And of course GVA and BSL that are already offered.

What are the chances of LPL-LGW?
I know Luton didn't really work for EasyJet, but LGW is better for accessing destinations on the south coast of England (that bit further away) and might work better?

There's LGW-MAN operated by BA and Jet2, also LCY-LPL by Vlm, so I doubt U2 will start LGW-LPL too much competition.

Oh man, TAP and BA really take the piss on London to Lisbon - they both charge the same amount, and it's LOADS. I hope easyJet put them both out of business after the trouble I have trying to get to Lisbon on BA and TP (whose new tail scheme is completely stupid btw).

I think Monarch must have had some good effect already on LIS-LGW, although I haven't actually verified this.

Great news for MRS
After Ryanair (Dublin and Glasgow),now another new route from Marseille.
LCC became hungry at MRS due to the opening of a brand new low cost terminal in September 2006 .Great news for the ramp workers!

Air France and British Airways CitiExpress fly EDI-CDG and Air France fly ABZ-CDG

It's not stopped them sniffing around MAN and applying for slots, which according to some people, they almost got but were offered "wrong" timings. Given that there will be some nice, available slots at good times up for grabs if BA don't do something, then it's not too far fetched to see U2 at MAN some day.

I'm slightly surprised at the choice of MRS and KRK for LPL - I would imagine that BUD and/or PRG might have put the wind up Jet2 and bmibaby at MAN!

NCL, BFS and LTN are 737 only bases.
ATM, GLA EDI and LPL are also 737 only, but they will be changing to A319s

Not soon. They are staying a mix operator for quite a few more years. What is going though are the 737-300s. 737-700s are staying.

In terms of route development would be nice to see U2 fly LGW-MUC and LGW-CDG/ORY.

The 73G's are staying, so not yet.

I wondered if EZY would start Paris from Gatwick, even perhaps Orly, which is also a base. They serve CDG from LTN but with BA having dropped it from LGW couldn't EZY give it a try?

Nice to see the MXP-LIS route. I'm jumping on that one this summer! I wish U2 all the luck on the MXP expansion. I don't think they should have any problems at all on the Italian routes. Any thoughts on how the MXP-NAP routes might do. It will be interesting to see if AZ cries for help once again. Go EASY Go!

BFS is 737-700 only so def be a 700 for BFS-AMS

No plans for expansion at BFS yet, with the newish base at BSL and the new base at MXP I can see more routes planned from these.....heard a rumour at work today easyJet are looking at Tenerife and Larnaca and the possibility of breaking into the Croation market and going to Pula and Dubrovnik

I notice today that on the Flyglobespan website, under the timetable section, it lists STN-ATH as a new route for summer 2006, though when you click on the link an error message comes up. Nothing bookable yet, either .... does this mean Flyglobespan are up for the fight?

Its a 7x weekly 738W. Atleast i think it is. Kind of hard to understand the slots. Seems to start on the 26th March.

Isn't it to close the Channel Tunnel who seem to offer lots discounts according the newspaper adverts for this to develop high yields?

Are seven seats enough to justify the expense of having two aircraft types, with the additional maintenance expenses?

Can anyone explain?

By operating 32 737-700's they feel there is sufficient number to be keep both fleets viable. They outsource their maintenance to SR Technics as do FR.

They got a fantastic deal from Airbus IIRC. So, the savings made in the purchase were greater than just staying with a one type fleet. Correct me if I'm wrong. Smile
