I'm willing to bet the 200LR can jam on SEA-KHI without the stops. What are the reasons for multiple segments?

Which is a shame because such a beautiful plane like the 772LR doesn't deserve to be in the same ugly colors as the current PIA fleet. Too much white and not much color...  Sad

Quite easily.
MAN is their main ops base outside of Pakistan I believe, so they'll be showing it off  Smile

And it will be entering service whilst on its delivery flight. Not many airlines can claim to have an aircraft being on delivery for only part of the route between factory and main base.

confused ........while the Worldliner livery is amazing, I love PK's simple scheme.......

They should also see MAN regularly as PK won't be using it just for longhaul. There will be occaions when it does shorter stages with more freight as the aircraft can be used with less fuel and more payload.

I'm surprised PK has eventually gone ahead with this. At one stage they were rumoured to want to convert LR orders to the 773ER instead. Having a contract to take the prototype must have swayed it omewhat and the order remained as it was.

The PIA team are in Seattle to prepare the aircraft on its delivery flight to Karachi. Sounds like the PIA team have found some defects in the aircraft as mentioned in the following forum thread:

http://www.historyofpia.com/forums/v...d=ede1cf9e5c7db5ff50c9da65470801f7

Quote:
We discussed the arrival of the 777LR (BGY) on Monday night and I was quite surprised to learn that this a/c prior to delivery has completed 500 cycles, 1 heavyweight landing, 2 bird strikes in both engines and oil leaks from the spoilers, the seal plates of which are made in Taiwan. The PIA team who have gone to Seattle to receive the a/c have also discovered about 160 cabin defects and paint chipped off the landing gear. Theres also the issue of water pipe which is prone to bursting which supplies water to the lower crew rest area in the ER and LR. This option was not selected by PIA, only the overhead rest area on the LR, and as a result the pipe supplying water to the lower crew rest area has been capped off and has burst on occasion on the ER's and is a possible corrosion issue but Boeing cannot do anything about it was they would have to change the entire design of the water supply lines as this pipe branches off from the main supply line.

AP-BGY will NOT be ariving in the new tail colors and the first a/c to be painted in the new tail scheme will be AP-BAK sometime in March, probably to coincide with 23rd March (this part I'm guessing). A ceremony will be held to celebrate the arrival of AP-BGZ which will also arrive in March (probably in the new colors) but the arrival of BGY will be uneventful

In true PIA style this flight from MAN to ISB and KHI has been sold out with a nice lengthy waiting list for the flight! Will try and get to the airport on sunday even though it is my day off!

they have a bunch of 773's on order......they should be getting them soon..

772's are perfect for PK on certain routes such as ORD, YYZ, IAH....

yah...but I think all (if not most) of them have been taken care of, so there shouldn't be a problem....

what was interesting part about that read was the fact they might go with some 747-8I's, 787's and 737s...........which would work perfectly for their fleet..

I think the soon-to-be-in-their-fleet 773's would be good for that route.!!

edit:

according to PK's website, their nonstop flight is from YYZ-KHI (PK-784), commences on 05-March-2006!! (13 hours, 35 minutes)

I never actually realised that AP-BGY was formerly N6066Z. In that case I've chilled out under her nose at the Paris airshow with quite a few other users from the site.

Well I'll be at MAN on Sunday morning to go see her again providing I don't have a heavy night tonight!
