Videos: Boeing Spoof Ads

Sat Feb 25, 2006 1:14 pm

OK, a couple more from my personal collection. The two videos below are spoof ads of the A380 that Boeing made, but never released to the media. They're a little dated; they still refer to the Dreamliner as the 7E7, but I think they're still pretty entertaining. A little goofy, but hey, that's what spoof ads are supposed to be! (Both vids are about 12 mb's each)

Hope you enjoy.

Sorry guys, not quite sure why they weren't workin. But I'm re-uploading them now. Give it about 5 minutes and they should be working. Sorry!

Just for reference, here are some of the other videos I have, let me know if you want me to host them:

- 777 Marketing Video
- 737 Marketing Video
- Short video about Composites
- "Thank You Concorde" (BA short film)
- "The Future" (Boeing Ad)
- Time-Lapse Video on the First 737 Painted in Dreamliner colors (shows in a minute or two the whole process of how they painted the 737 for Air Berlin)

I've got a few others, but those are the ones that are most interesting I think.

So try the links again; sorry once again guys!

Am I alone in thinking that these would be funnier if they weren't so embarrassing on a corporate level? It really does make me cringe when I see Boeing, Airbus or any other large, apparently credible company coming up with such excruciating promotional material for its products. Grow up, Boeing!

Very enlightening and somewhat funny! I am not an A vs B fanatic but one does have to wonder about the logistics of boarding and deplaning a sold out A380! I cant stand a sold out 737/A320!

Forgot to point this out the first time. This phrase is scandalously sexist, demeaning and de-liberating to oppressed women everywhere. The alternative "breasts up" is, contrary to popular opinion, also unacceptable. Terms such as these deny women the right and ability freely to wear their dungarees with pride and honour.

Use of that phrase? God, that was such a cock-up.

I thought the video was stupid. The A380 will seat no more than some of Japan Airlines domestic 747s. For the company that makes a 450 seater to spoof a 550 seater is hypocritical at best. A video like this would have been timely in 1969 - not now.

The point of the spoof is that the A380 is SO big. But that point is false. It is only marginally bigger than the 747. So what was the point of the spoof? That's why it's stupid.

Have you ever flown a JA domestic 747? If you did, you too would not be so enthusiastic about the 380.

So who said the 747 was easy from an embarking/disembarking standpoint?

Who says they are not? But for sake of argument, let's say they are. Why would Boeing make a video spoofing this feature of the A380 if the 747 shares it too?

Because they're promoting an airplane (787) that's smaller than the 380 and the 747?

If that's the case, when then did they single out the A380 in the spoof? They just took a shot at Airbus for making a plane slightly bigger than a plane they, themselves, are STILL making.

C'mon, I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest with you. It was a spoof on the competition, that's all. Don't get bent out of shape over it. You think Airbus doesn't do the same thing??? If so, I'll be glad to share with you some of the more infamous comments by Airbus knocking Boeing. Lighten up!

Those are interesting videos, but they don't really seem to poke too much fun at the competition. Just seem like regular ads to me. But with how much Leahy runs his big mouth, Airbus talks a lot more trash then Boeing does with a few cheeky internal video clips.

So what do you guys think of the other 5 vids I just added for your pleasure?
