RE: Strange Visitors To Your Home Airports?

CMH has some, mostly courtesy of college football charters. Gets interesting around bowl season! Here are some interesting visitors I've seen through either pictures or actually being at CMH.

2003 Fiesta Bowl charters (Nat'l Championship win for OSU):
UA 747-400
2 ATA L-1011s
World DC-10
Sun Country 737-800
1, maybe 2 Champion Air 727-200s

Fall 2005, CO 757-200 for the Texas/Ohio State game.

Jan 2006, Champion Air 727 for the Fiesta Bowl.

Don't know why this plane would've been here. I wish I were there, though!:

I also remember a DL 767-200 being parked on the east ramp because of a diversion a few years ago. I wish we still got these on scheduled flights, too.:

Well it is official, 1Time Aero (LCC) is coming to town with their DC9's! Shortly we will be able to see these birds on the apron in BFN as well:

A couple years ago I caught an An-124 on approach to SEA while driving down I-5, I almost ran off the road. Even my aviation-indifferent friend was impressed by it. It seems like most of the unusual stuff at SEA is in the form of obscure cargo carriers making occassional visits or regular airlines making aircraft substitutions.

Hey man,
I was just down at SEA coming back from PHX (look for trip report), and the AN-124 was back on the cargo ramp. That plane is huge! Also, an NW DC-10 was a SEA recently, most likely subbing for the A332 service to NRT.
Happy Flying!

Very strange visitor to YLW is the IcelandAir 757-200. Since Kelowna Flightcraft got the contract to install the wing tips they are becoming a common sight above the skies of YLW.

There were probably close to a dozen ATA L-1011s

In addition:

2 NW 747-200s
Omni DC-10
Sunworld 727
Miami Air 737-800

Probably more, too.

For Burlington VT (BTV) it would have to be a World Airways MD-11. It was bringing troops home from the war on terror. Sadly, I only caught it on TV.

The policeman near the plane reffer to, as a "Presidential Plane",rather than a Goverment Plane. He may never heard of Air Force One.

Hey, I saw that the Air Luxor A330 as well when we were transfered, with the bus, from SYD International Terminal to the Domestic Terminal. It was parked not too far from the holding point of Rwy 16R. Big grin

This is my first post - I've been a long time anonymous browser, but have decided to join A.net now and become an active member. Despite the username I have an interest in pretty well all that flies, but particularly in airliners.

I live 10 minutes away from NEMA/EGNX/EMA whatever you want to call it, and here we get some quite unusual visitors. Regular visitors are Antonov 124's (from Polet, Volga Dnepr & Antonov Airlines), Antonov 12's, 26's & 72's.

Over the last 18 months we have had two very special visitors - an Antonov Airlines An-22 and the An-225.

I only saw the An-22 on the ground, but was fortunate enough to see the An-225 take off. To have an aircraft that size less than 50ft above your head is mind blowing and something I will never forget.

I am looking forward to the A380's visit which can't be too far off now, for the usual Rolls-Royce flypasts. It would be nice to see this in formation with the R-R Spitfire as was done with the A346!!

Regards,

A380Heavy

Can remember that two F50 of Aero Mongolia once came to SCN (Germany) for maintenance (done by Contact Air).

Yeesh! Sexy!? They look like a couple of lumpy old ladies to me! LOL

At "my" hometown airport, BDR (Bridgeport CT), this was an occasional visitor - due to the fact that PrivatAir has a North American office and hangar at BDR airport (and let me tell you - since BDR lost all scheduled service thanks to USAirways Excuse extinguishing its' service here, this was a real treat to see!) :

Quoting SA7700 (Thread starter):
This evening I went out to BFN (Bloemfontein Airport, South Africa) to pick up my dad, who was coming in from DUR and my sister arriving from JNB. To my surprise I found an Ilyushin Il-86 (tail number RA-86142) parked on the apron.

I went out to the airport yesterday to pick up paper-tickets and to my amazement the Ilyushin Il-86, mentioned in the thread start-up, was still parked on BFN's apron. The engines have been "covered up", so I guess it is going to remain there for the foreseeable future.

Maybe SA Express Airways acquired the frame.....  Wink

A few months ago I saw an Evergreen International 747 arriving in SAN. Thought all 747 service to San Diego was gone (even though this was a cargo). Does anybody know if this plane goes to SAN with any regularity??
