There used to be a picture of it at There is a picture on there of the 737-800. The livery is the same as all the other planes. I just checked and its not there anymore. If I find it I will e-mail you.

Hi I'm Ben.
I saw that picture too.
I don't think that American has taken delivery of its first 737-800 yet but I know that it'll happen sometimes real soon. It must be now ready for delivery, probably in March it will be in regular scheduled flights. 100 of them are on order, 25 are expected this year. They will replace the last 727's that are still around. After the year 2000 the 727's will become rare with the majors.
I think that they will replace their MD-80's with more Next Generation 737's, probably 700's. Remember they have options for another 400 737's and they have a deal with Boeing that it will be the only aircraft supplier for the next 20 years. Think about it, the MD-80's are still young but the oldest is now 15 years old so it's about time to start thinking of their retirement because it will take years to phase out the 260 S80's. They should order a bunch of 737-700's to eventually start replacing the MD-80's. Maybe they'll buy more 757's but the 737-700 would be a good replacement of the MD-80.

I dont think the 737-700 has the capacity of their MD-82s, I'm not that really sure. Since I brought it up, whats the capacity on the mixed class MD-80s?

Amercian's new -800's hold that config. MD-80's hold around 140-150 depending on the First Class size, and sizes of the aft galley.

AA's new 737's - here now!

Tue Feb 16, 1999 7:53 am

Yesterday (Sunday 02/14) I was at LAX and saw an
AA 737-800 taxi past the terminal. There was no doubt as to what it was, and it was registered N902AN. I have no idea if it was running a schedule but AA has definitely taken delivery.
