I found some statistics about Pristina PRN and I think that some regional Airports do not have this much of flights and PAX for a year maybe i am not right, correct if I'm wrong. Other wise Kosova has only 2 milion inhabitant.

Well i do not have statistics today from SOF sofia there were 46 scheduled departures according to their website. That is 1271 departures for the month of March 3 times as much as pristina.
This number should rise as soon as the new terminal and the new runway are opened, and when someone buys Bulgaria Air.

Pristina won't be getting much traffic even after Kosovo's so called independence from sovereign Serbia. It'll be a backwater airport. It only gets traffic now because of the UN and NATO.

You see that highest peeks are Swiss, Hamburg Int'l, Austrian and Helvetic.
Well Swiss and Helvetic both operate from ZRH and Hamburg Int'l also has some flights from ZRH to PRN.
This is easy to understand when you know how many Albanians (spelling?) live in Switzerland.

Thanks Felix, I guess I missed that link. So OS and LX are in the top 3, but is there maket mainly O&D or do a lot of passengers use them to transfer onto other points in Europe?

Mostly O&D caused by the huge amount of Albanian and Kosovarian immigrants in Germany and Switzerland. A lot of these flights are charter flights, operating only during school holidays, allowing the imigrants to visit their families.
In Hamburg during summer holiday it happens quiet often that 3 or 4 flight for PRN depart within a few hours.

I would have assumed that Priština is one of the quieter airports in the region. It is however the second busiest in Serbia (after Belgrade) but is relatively minor compared to airports such as:
Athens, Bucharest, Sofia, Zagreb, Thessaloniki, Sarajevo. And although I am not sure I would think Priština is also smaller in passenger numbers than places like Split, Varna, Skopje, Tirana.

Pristina PRN is higher than Tirana, Skopje, Ohrid, Sarajevo, Split, Podgorica, Varna, and Dubrovnik with traffic and passenger.

Varna has 1.431 million (charter only) passengers for 2005 and 1.275 million (charter only) passengers for 2004. So, it is much higher than the 930,346 (2005) passengers for Pristina.

I'd tend to agree - like Macedonia and Albania it's a fairly quiet region of the Balkans in terms of business and tourist potential (Kosova being landlocked). Lots of family/refugee/IDP traffic though.
I'd predict more increase in tourist traffic to Croatia and Montenegro over time, and an increase in business traffic to Belgrade and Sarajevo while the business climate gradually improves.

I think Dc863 was refering to the passengers, not the flying equipment. Most of the UN staff and NGO's use commercial flights out of PRN.

Will always rely on it's own migrants from Germany and Switzerland for traffic. Tourism - cannot see how this happening soon without beaches ??

Heraklion - 5 mill
Rhodes - 4 mill

Kos - 1.7 mill

Well, Pristina is the 2nd biggest city in Serbia after Belgrade, so it makes sense that it has the 2nd busiest airport.

No Kerry, Tirana doesn't have traffic higher than Pristina never ask anyone in Europe they will tell you who got the highest traffic Tirana TIA or Pristina PRN.
