AC 131, YYZ-YVR 30Aug06, Do I Need Help?

Thu Apr 06, 2006 2:05 am

I booked this flight awhile ago and I now see that it is no longer listed on the Air Canada website. I assume this means that the plane will be full. I chose it because it has been years since I was on a 767 and my final destination is Victoria and this flight had the longest layover in Vancouver. Does this mean I'm not normal, choosing flights based on aircraft type and layover time or does it mean I am just a normal A. Netter ? Do I need help, my wife says I'm nuts, please someone tell me it will all be okay.

You need Jesus  Smile

But seriously, you are not the only one, as almost every other member on this forum will admit to having done this. I have, and have not only done it for aircraft, but also for airline etc. But some time during the layover, you will feel so annoyed and deduce that it was not worth it. But this will still not stop you from doing it all over again during another trip.

If your final destination is in Victoria, and seeing that your long layover is at YVR and provided it is not an overnight layover, you can standby on an earlier flight out of YVR to good ol' YYJ. Be sure to request a standby upon checkin, and you're set.

No need for the standby as the layover is only one hour. I'm disappointed that it could not be longer. All I really hope for is better weather in Vancouver than the last two times I have gone this route.

This probably means AC had a sked change, which could mean a change of flight #, dep/arr times or even an equipment change (which stinks for an a.nut...one time I booked a flight to specifically fly on an AC 762 and a tail swap was done at the last minute and it ended up being a 763 another time, before they were retired, I booked a 146 on a YOW-YYZ run and it was swapped for a DH3).

Having said all that, you should probably reconfirm you flight at least 24 hours prior to departure in order to avoid any unexpected surprises.

It shows if you just look at YYZ-YVR ( AC131 08:00 09:57 763 0 ), but not as a connection to YYJ. This means the YVR-YYJ flight is not taking any more bookings (ie. full). For you that might be good news - as soon as you exit customs at YVR go to the connections desk (right in front of you) and offer to be voluntarily bumped (VDB). There's a good chance YVR-YYJ is oversold in which case they'll put you on a later flight - they are every hour or so.

He is arriving from YYZ. YVR and YYZ are both in Canada so there is no customs on arrival. He willl arrive at a gate on C pier.

To request this, head to the desk at C38. That is where all YVR - YYJ Flights leave from.

In Vancouver people don't tan, they rust!

I've got a tea-shirt that says: Vancouver Rain Festival 1 August - 31 July!

I wish you luck ...

Yeah, help me man, I am rusting and rotting. Can't wait to go back to Japan and never EVER come back here except July 31st, and August 1st.

So this is the small pier section right? Don't most of the heavies from YYZ, usually park in C41-43 or somewhere around there? Then it should be really close

Actually that doesn't mean on those two dates - it means between 1 August and 31 July!

No surprise,we are very strange people...

I was joking, the problem is that I do not personally choose to fly THAT particular flight on THAT particular day hoping it will be THAT particular a/c simply because a switch in a/c may ruin all your aspectatives...  banghead

Thanks for the info everyone. VDB will depend on the weather at YVR when I arrive. Two or three hour layover should be good.
