What Planes And Airlines Mostly Fly Over Yourhouse

Mon Jun 12, 2000 8:25 am

Since I live pretty close to EWR I see alsot of CO 727s, 757, and MD-80 and DC-9s fly over landing or taking off as well as SAS 767-300, Virgin's 747 and A340s. I've even seen quite a few MD-11s, DC-10s, MD-80s and 767-300 from AA going to and from JFK as well as some Delta 757s, 727s and 737s from Delta Express. Once ever now and then I see som TWA MD-80s and 757s go to and from JFK. From LGA I see many USAirways 737s, 757s and A320s I've even see a few 727s from USAirways Shuttle that operate at LGA,BOS and National. What aircraft with what airline flies over your house going from or to what airport. The planes I mostly see take off from New York Area Airports and fly toward Canada or straight out to the Atlanic Ocean. I've seen quite a few aircraft heading due south or west.

Since I live in Seattle, and because it is the headquarters for Alaska airlines, I see a lot of MD-80's and 737's. I also see a considerable amount of NW 757s, 747s, A320, and DC-10s. United also flies in many flights w/ 737s, 757s, A320s, DC-10s, 777s, 747s. Others such as AA, SW, and DL fly a very good number of flights a day. I live north of the airport, but the final approach for 16R/L is right over my house. They pass over at about 3200'so its a pretty nice view.

I live in Wilmington, NC so I do not get to see alot of traffic, but I am able to see military transport-style aircraft do touch-and-go's. When the conditions are right, then all traffic flies overhead which consists of USAirways 737s, ASA EMB-120s, and Midway CRJs.
Wilmington is also on the Florida-New York flight path, so we get alot of crusing altitude aircraft fly over.

Well since I have moved, I know longer live in the approach zone for Phoenix Sky Harbor. Now I live in the approach zone for Davis-Monthan Airbase. So I see a lot of A-10s, F-16s, C-130s, KC-135s, and the occasional C-141 and C-5 Galaxy... they are BIG.

I live near ELM (Elmira, NY) My house is on top a hill and approx. 15 miles from the airport. Almost everyday, I have Northwest Airlink (Mesaba) Saab 340 coming from DTW and US Airways DC-9-30 coming from PIT fly over my house a few times each day. They usually don't fly much lower than 2000-2500 ft from the ground (since I live on a hill) so I can usually get a pretty good look at them.

I live just west of Pearson(YYZ) near the southern east-west pattern. Mostly Air Canada types(A319,A320,B7474,B7672&3,CRJ), Canada3000(A320,A330,B757), Air France(A310,A340,B767), Olympic(used to be 747, now A340), British Airways(B747,B777!!), Air Transat(B757,L1011, yet to see A330 over this way!), Alitalia(B747), United(B727,B737,B757,A320), Continental(B737), InterCanadian(F28). Most of the other types use the northern runway; I can see them, but the view isn't as great!!

I live in Anaheim CA, so see alot of planes coming in to SNA from up north before they make their final right turn to line up..so I see alot of Alaska, United, Southwest, Skywest (United Express), the AA's with white fuselages that used to be RenoAir...don't see many America West, TWA, NW, U.A Airways, or Delta's tho 'cuz most of those are coming from the east...lots of 757's, 737's, MD-80's, A319/320's....but the best is...my house is right under an alternate landing pattern for Long Beach where they make the Boeing C-17 (and 717's, or course)...and everyonce in a while a C-17 will come over so low it rattles the windows and I can just about see the pilot lookin' down smiling at me!!!

I live right under one of the flight approach paths into Edmonton City Centre Airport (YXD), so I see mostly general aviation a/c like the Pilatus P-12, Cessna 172, Beechcraft King Airs, and Fairchild Metros. Business jets such as the Learjet, HS 125, Gulfstream and the Canadair CL604 Challenger often fly there, as this is a very convenient airport for business travelers coming to Edmonton by private jet. I also see Canadian Armed Forces C-130 Hercs there, too.

YXD was known as Edmonton Municipal Airport before it was closed to most scheduled airline service in 1996, as nearly all of it has been shifted to YEG. Today, only aircraft with 12-20 seats or less can do scheduled service out of YXD. Before all this happened, there were F28s, Dash 8-100/300s, BAe 146s, and 737-200s flying regularly right over my apartment. Some of the F28s and 737s would fly so low that the windows would literally vibrate! 737s and even 727s are sometimes still flown into YXD for maintenance work, as there's a company at YXD which is contracted to work on aging aircraft.

Hi there, I live under the approach path for 24L of Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and the planes are usually intercepted while over my house at about 3000 ft. I also live very close to the circuit patterns of Toronto Buttonville Muni (YKZ) runway 15/33 and I get the occassional Dash 8 or Global Express flyover out of Downsview where they are made, so I see most brand new Dash 8's including the new -400's. I've seen SAS Dash 8-400 flying around and I see tons of the demonstrator Q200. From Buttonville I mostly see light props like Cessnas or light twins. I see the occassional biz-jet and have seen a CC-130 Herc and CF-18 Hornet in the pattern once each. For Pearson, I see mainly Air Canada single aisle Airbuses, tons of them actually. I also see Air Ontario Dash 8's, Air Georgian B1900D's, Canadian Regional Fokker 28-1000's, Air Canada A340's, 330's, 747-400's, Canadair Regional Jets, everything Air Canada flies I see, also get lots of Canadian now they have switched to the 2 southernmost terminals at YYZ. But the new interim c/s are much like AC and I can't tell a Canadian 767-300ER and Air Canada 767-300ER apart in the new c/s. I see Air Transat Tristars, 757's, 330's. All of Royal's fleet, all of Canada 3000's fleet, Olympic A340's, Various US carriers short-medium haulers, the largest aircraft flown into YYZ by a US carrier are the American and United 757's to Chicago. We get lots of American F100's, MD-80's, 727's, and a couple 757's daily, United flies in all of their 737 types including the -200, 300 and 500 they also fly in the A320's, 727's, and the odd 757. US Airways flies in the 737-300 and 400, CRJ, DC-9-30 and small types like the Dash 8, Jetstream 31, and Saab 340B. Northwest flies in the 727, DC-9-30 and 50, and A320, Delta flies in only the MD-88 but Comair and ASA fly the CRJ's in here. Continental flies only the 737-300's and 500s in here along with EMB-120's and 135's. British Airways flies in the 747-200 three times weekly, 747-400 two times weekly and 777-200 nine times weekly. Air France sends in their A340-300's, KLM sends their 747-300's and -400's, Skyservice flies the A320's and 330. There are many more types but these are the ones I see most.

I live in SW Houston, so I see alot of Southwest 737's, as well as Continental MD-80's, 737's and ERJ-145's heading to Mexico. It's also a pretty common occurence to see the European flights above FL300 headed to Mexico City. I have a telescope and have often spotted BA, IB, KL, AF, and LH flights headed to the Mexican capital. Pretty cool sights!

Although I live pretty far (30km to the east) from YYZ a lot of aircraft turn almost right over my house. The most popular are Air Canada A320 and A319s, outnumbering other types by a large shot. The most infrequent? Aeroflot Il-62 - only saw it once but man was it noisy!

I live REALLY close to the airport, so it is cool. But up here in SD there is not much varity at FSD. About 90 percent of the times it is a DC-9 flown by NWA, or UAL.

I live close to AMS. The flight path from rwy 06 is straight over my town. Most seen aircraft are the 737, 747 and MD-11. Sometimes there are A-320 and 767.

I live 10 km from POZ Lawica Airport, and see only ATR 42/72 (LOT, EUROLOT), Fokker 50 (SAS) and sometimes B737 (LOT, CRONUS AIR-Greek Charter Airline). POZ is also used by army and I can see some military transport aircraft (AN26, YAK40).

I live in Ivalo (EFIV) and the landing zone (rwy22) goes right over our house. The one and only airliner is Finnair which flies over with DC9-51s and MD82/83s. At the Christmas there goes B757s of Monarch, Britannia and Air2000. They bring Christmas tourists. Even Conocorde has flown over our house but it´s very rare visitor (it has visited two times).

Hey Virgin A340,

Continental does not fly 727's or DC9's (it does fly MD80's though)
into Newark or anywhere else for that matter. These types were
retired in 1999 so you are not seeing these jets in Continental
livery flying into Newark.

I see a lot of Boeing 727's, 757's, A320's, A319's, 767's, and some
DC10's, ATR's, and MD80's flying overhead.

Of the two types of commercial a/c that fly into PIR --UX/Great Lakes Beech 1900D and NW Airlink/Mesaba Saab 340B-- I see (and hear!) them frequently over my house. (The UX flight to DEN at 7:27 am makes a nice alarm clock...)

I live under the approach pattern for Milwaukee General Mitchell Airport, so I hear plenty of rather loud aircraft, and spot quite a few. I'll assume the loud ones are non-hushkitted 727s and DC-9s, although MKE also serves as a military base, so we get KC135s and E-3s as well.

On an average day, these types usually overfly: YX DC-9 and MD-80, Skyway 1900C and rarely a 328JET, SunCountry 727-200 and DC-10-10, ATA L1011 and 727, NWA A320, DC-9, 727, 757 and DC-10-30 and -40, Air Canada DC-9 and A319, UAL 737-300 and 727-200, AA MD-80 and 737-300, DL MD-80 and MD-90, CO 737-200 and -300, MD-80 and EMB-145, American Eagle EMB-145, SAAB 340.

As a side note, I have to say I sometimes get very distracted driving I-94 into Chicago. This passes under the approach pattern for O'Hare, and there are always big international jets coming in.

I live on the other side of town from the airport, but one approach to the airport(LEX) brings planes within viewing distance. Mostly, I see Delta MD-88's and 727's. I also see ASA Embraer 120's, and Comair CRJ's. Occasionally I will see a US Airways F100. Although United, Northwest, Continental and TW Express also service LEX, I have never seen them flying over. But, I have only been at my current house for 3 months.
I used to live in an apartment that was near an FAA beacon. The facility was located in a nearby park where I would go for a run. Very interesting.

Hello,

I live under the approach path to Liege Airport. The aircraft turn on final approach for Runway 23L right over my house. The most frequent airliner here is the BAe 146 used by TNT Global Express. Every night between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m., about 20 aircraft arrive here from all over Europe.

Frequent Flyers In Montreal

Wed Jun 14, 2000 12:54 am

I live in Montreal, Qc, Canada so people who might think that we have two airports, Dorval and Mirabel here in Montreal are wrong. We have two airports: Air Canada Airport and Air Transat Airport. Dorval is Air Canada. With A320s, of course. You know, for planespotters seeing an A320 at Dorval is like going hunting and get a big bunch of gray pigeons.

At Mirabel (or "Chartertown"   ), where Air Transat is the absolute King, it's mostly TriStars, B757s and A330s.

I live in Lubbock, Texas (LBB), but I live on the other side of the town from the airport. But most aircraft are close enough to see clearly. I see Southwest 737s, FedEx Cessena 208s, F-27s, and 727s, and Airborne Express DC-9. I also see USAF C-17s, KC-135s, T-1s, T-38s, and B-1Bs.

I live about 5 kilometres away from POS. My house is directly under the flightpath of planes flying in from TAB as well as those flying out to GND and ANU. The equipment which usually pass overhead are:

BWIA - Dash 8 Q300, MD80, occasionally 737-800 and L-1011-500

LIAT - Dash 8 100/300

Air Caribbean - YS11, 737-200

Occasionally AC A319/320 or 767 passes on the way to Toronto. Other flights usually pass well to the west of our house.

I live in two different places. First, I live in Fargo, North Dakota to be close to Minneapolis, and my house happens to be right on the flight path. Anyway, I normally see Northwest's DC-9-10, -30, -40, -50, B727-251, A319, A320, and the occasional 747-451. I also see Airborne Express' DC-9-30 and MD-80. United shows up with their Canadair Regional Jets, and their other puddle jumpers. Second, I live in the west a few months out of the year. Out there I see Northwest's DC-9-30, Delta's 727-232, 737-?, and Horizon's Fokker.
Aviation is proof that, given the will, we have the capacity to achieve the impossible.

Living in Dallas Tx, almost the only planes that I see are AA MD-80's, 757-200, DC-10's, MD-11's and 767-300's. I also see a lot os Southwest Airlines 737's. But as you go closer and closer to the airport you will see more planes take off and land then you will at Newark or even LAX!!!!!!!!!!!!
