Has Biman Stopped MAN?

Sat May 06, 2006 8:34 pm

Just Planes' website is reporting that Biman has had to stop serving MAN-JFK because of FAA objections. Does anyone know why this is?

Well, not entirely. The JFK flight has reverted back to BRU, but only as a technical stop. MAN gets a frequency on BG005/006 - DAC-DXB-LHR-MAN-DAC. Flight is on Saturdays.

Its no wonder why the western world doesn't fly BG, one minute they're in, then they're not, people don't know where they stand

Once a week DAC-DXB-LHR-MAN-DAC ??????

FAA objections huh, if bilateral/trilateral agreements permitted this then why would the FAA have a problem. I wouldn’t think security was a problem...
But no HS748, I have no idea  Smile

No, but it's certainly not the pax fault! If i book a flight I expect it to occur, not revert back to belgiumor not happen at all.

Apperently, Bangladesh / Biman is Cat II (conditional) and FAA objected to switching to MAN from BRU. However, it is not clear excatly what / why FAA objected to. Anyway, Biman is terming this move temporary, and will continue to do the weekly flight DAC-DXB-BRU-JFK-BRU-DAC till June 3. It can only be presumed that by then they will get the MAN stopover cleared. If not, Biman is said to consider dropping JFK entirely.

BG clearly didn't even bother to consider whether it's route shift would have any ramifications. They could have easily avoided any heartburn by consulting with the appropriate authorities--Planemannyc's link makes this clear....so does just a shred of anecdotal information about BG Silly. It's not like we're talking about the best run airline here...

Any other reason why Biman is regarded as the worst airline in the world?
If you flew today, thank a Flight Dispatcher!

Based on some personal experience I can say that the inflight experience on BG was never a big problem. The real trouble happens on the ground, when you have to struggle with deaf staff and incompetent management of a third world carrier. If only they could stabilize their financial status and kick out those government influenced "managers" - everything would improve rapidly.

Shame you can't buy a ticket on the LHR-MAN sector - that'd be worth a trip report  Wink

Biman don't seem overly concerned with licensing regulations. If you rang them up they'd probably sell you a ticket!

Would be good if you could do MAN-LHR with RB on the 747SP then return on BG on sunday on the DC-10! Now that would be a trip i would be willing to do!  Smile

Very sad indeed if they delete Kennedy from the route map. I love the idea of Biman flying DC10s across the pond in 2006. Hope it's only temporary.

Lucky Emirates eh? No wonder they're doing two A340-500s a day DXB/JFK and adding a daily A330 (via Hamburg).
