Manx2 Seats Go On Sale

Sat Jun 03, 2006 6:57 pm

Have just noticed that the website for new IOM start-up, Manx2, is today up and running for bookings. Flights from IOM to BFS and LBA will be 2 x daily, with BLK flights up to 3xdaily. Fares start at £39 one-way incl taxes on all routes. No mention of what aircraft type is to be used, could it be the LET L-410 as initially pictured in their press announcement a couple of weeks back?

The carrier seems to be actively promoting onward connections from BFS, LBA and BLK and has a section on it's website dedicated to this, though somewhat surprisingly given the co-operation supposedly involved, Jet2's services are shown as 'other carrier' whilst most other carriers mentioned on the link are actually named!

Not a bad little website, and they even have a frequent flyers program!

I'm trying to book the inaugral BLK-IOM flight, but am getting a price of £78 for the flights (including tax), but then a total fare of £89.99 in the payment field when I select a payment method. Yet it offers no elaboration on where the extra £12 has come from!

Hmm, have booked and it looks like they do only charge £78, but the payment box has a bug! I rang customer services, apparantly the site isn't officially open yet (though you can still book!). The person I spoke to (think it may have been one of the management team) said that the flight will indeed be operated by the Let410!

And I'm on the inaugrual BLK-IOM flight  Smile. Think I may be the third person to book, as my reservation ends in 'AC', assuming it goes up letter by letter.

Website says due to the short flight time there is no toilet on the aircraft. Is the LET that small?

Ha ha, yes I noticed that point too! Big grin Though given that their longest flight (IOM-LBA) is only scheduled as 55 mins then hopefully it shouldn't be too much of a problem for most people!

I might be back myself, Andy! A L-410, from LBA, sounds like an opportunity not to be missed! You've been warned! Big grin

Apparently the aircraft belong to Budapest Air Services. So, Let-410's after all - if the CAA let them in.

Well given that Hungary is now in the EU it's unlikely the CAA would not let them in (on the basis that safety oversight in Hungary is now just as good as anywhere else in the EU and Hungary is a member of the JAA).
