Socceroos In STR!

Thu Jun 08, 2006 3:32 am

Hi Guys. Did not find the topic about soccer charters.

QF was in STR today with a 747-400 VH-OJB. The flight was from RTM. It departed later to FRA.
So I guess the flight was FRA-RTM-STR-FRA and the plane will go back tonight as QF 6 to SYD via SIN. Can anyone confirm this?

Cool!

A QF in STR. That must have been a first!

I know that charter routings can be odd but that's downright bizarre! A 747 hopping around the continent like that? The train ride from FRA-STR is barely 1.5 hrs! I know LH has scheduled air service on that route but certaintly not w/ a 747 ...

Anyone have an idea how much additional capacity Deutsche Bahn has added to the trunk routes connecting World Cup cities?

A bit off topic but I've never heard of Socceroos.

Are Socceroos something like Underoos? Big grin

QANTAS are the major sponsor of the Socceroos and hence have been flying them around Europe for their warm-up games. Make sense when all the planes are doing is sitting on tarmacs all day at LHR & FRA!

Didn't he say he would fly the Socceroos in the 707? I clearly remember him saying that after a match.

No its a mixture of Soccer and Kangaroos.

Specifically, the Australian National Soccer side. The olympic soccer side is the Olyroos.

Australia played Liechtenstein in a friendly in southern Germany, so I presume it was related to that. The score was 3-1 Aus...

UP THE SOCCEROOS!!!!
