Interesting. Though hardly surprising. FR are fiercely protective of their Irish market.

prediction ( for what its worth)

I think SNN and some of the Knock routes will be dropped. However, I think they may keep ORK routes

None of these routes are available in October, new route LGW-GLA is though.
I think these routes finish at the end of September.

They need the slots at LGW for their expansion. I suppose the irish routes did not work out.

I'm not surprised, LGW-ORK was always cheap, had the pleasure of a day trip in April.

I think this is the new strategy www.easyjet.com/EN/News/expansion_of_business_travel_at_gatwick.html

How long before FR drop NOC/SNN/ORK-LGW and close their ORK base?

Why would they? They've just bumped off their competitor on the routes, they have all the business now. I flew FR's LGW-ORK service 2 days after it started and it had 125 passengers, and to Shannon in March which had 108 passengers, so the loads are pretty good.

They only started those routes becasue Easyjet did if I remember correctly. And in the case of Cork, its the smallest FR base with only one aircraft and I belive they have reduced the frequency of ORK-DUB since they started that route

FR have been in NOC for 20 years and the frequency on the DUB-ORK route is the same since start-up, daily.

I thought it had been dropped from three times a day to twice a day

easyJet will also drop it's daily flight between Luton and Bratislava effective winter schedule. This was said by SkyEurope's CEO in an interview.
This means that Bratislava falls out of the easyJet network.

Will be interesting to see what else easyJet is going to start out of LTN to replace the BTS flight.

Still 3 times daily as far as I can ascertain, 800, 1105 and 1755 from DUB with flights departing ORK at 645, 915 and 1640 most days

Spot on!!!!

What with morning slots being very scarce at LGW any plans to increase frequencies would have meant dropping some other services.

Dropping Ireland services is no surprise really as FR currently operate to ORK, SNN and NOC from LGW and I wouldn't have thought that there was a market for 4 flights a day to each of these destinations.

Shame if Bratislava is dropped, but they had already withdrawn the Berlin-Bratislava service. London Bratislava has twice daily with Ryanair and at least daily (or is it more?) with Sky Europe. I always thought the route was over served, remember 4years ago when there were no flights to Slovakia at all!!

Is removal of duplicate routes the first step for take over of Sky Europe by Easy? It's no secret that Sky is in deep financial trouble.

Wouldnt it be easier for Easyjet just to force them out of business by increasing the routes they compete with them on?

Not if the price is right. I flew LGW-SNN and reverse last year midweek and it was pretty full, and I was paying a pretty penny. My best bet is that these flights were not unprofitable, but they were not as lucrative as the slightly longer stage length UK-EU flights upcoming.
