Widebody's On Small Euro Sectors

Thu Jun 22, 2006 9:13 pm

Hi guys,
Can anyone point me in the right direction..
Are their any widebody flights that operate from london on inter european flights
before flying onto their long haul destination..

Let me explain...

before all the latest RG news I hoped to travel on the roundtrip LHR-CPH-LHR flight on their MD-11, The fare is quite cheap but with the uncertainty of the airline future I dont think this dream will ever happen..
Can anyone recommend any similar routes that are a
'' Must do before you die '' kind of thing ?

Thanks guys !

I don't know if LH still send their A300/A310 into LHR on some flights or if someone here could tell you when BA are next going to rotate their MAN based 767 for maintaince or something similar.

BA also use their 767s on intra European hauls- namely Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Prague, Cologne (!), Larnaca & Istanbul, not to mention Madrid, Nice and wherever they need extra capacity.

Olympic sometimes use their A340 on CDG flights...do they for LHR ? Was surprised to see it parked next to my LH CRJ (!!!!) in CDG T1.

THY also occasionally sends their A340s to LHR. Don't know on what kind of schedule, but it seems to be on a regular basis.

BA no longer have a set 767 at MAN, by that I mean on based there on a permanent basis.
I'm not sure if they still do 767 maintenance at MAN anymore.

I'm sure if you were prepared to go a bit further out than Europe, you can catch a BA 767/777 in long-haul config to Cairo and Tel Aviv.

No we don't. Can't recall the last time we sent a 767 to AMS. All Euro configured 767s are based at T1. AMS gets the A320 family.

FRA-TXL
FRA-MUC
FRA-DUS
FRA-HAM
FRA-LED
FRA-LCA
FRA-FCO
FRA-AGP
FRA-BCN
FRA-ATH
FRA-LIS
FRA-FAO
FRA-CPH
Next flights: YQM-YUL-YVR-YUL-YQM / YQM-YYZ-HKG-DXB-BCN-YUL-YQM

And there is a BA767 every day on the LHR-DUS route because of a smart cargo deal. From time to time it's done by a 757. Saw the 767 last tuesday when I was on a trip to MUC.

The Concorde shuttle between LHR and LGW is maybe the best example but this year will some of the flights be flown by 744 during weekends. Here is the 8.15 pm flight from yesterday. The fare is UKL 49 and flying time is 8 min for SSC and 14 min for 744.

Thomsonfly have four B767-200's based in the UK (as far as I can remember at CWL, LTN, BHX, and EMA), they fly all the charter flights so you can catch them on routes like PMI, ALC, AGP, IBZ, RHO, ZTH, CFU, LCA, PFO, DLM etc etc.

I'm not too sure about some of the others, I think XLA use 767's and 747's on a few selected routes!

Joe,

pretty sure that this flight has now stopped, the routings are now
DAM-LHR-DAM or DAM-MAN-DAM. Also, the chance of flying on the SP are real hit & miss, i guess it does around 50% of the LHR runs, with the 320 picking up the rest.

I tend to see the IL 96s going into LHR on saturday afternoons when i've been down there spotting. Last visit was at the end of april and saw one then, along with a Tu-154 from FV.
